Detroit 2-0-1 out of the gate. Howard/Osgood have looked good. Stoked to see Modano getting some production and think they look rejuvenated after finally getting a summer off. And I loved the Datsyuk-Perry fight. Datsyuk finally stood up for himself and quite frankly, that fight was a bit of an embarassment for Perry...Promising season ahead!
Caps have looked improved on the defensive side. 3-0 after a lackluster opening loss. Neuvirth and his defensive front, especially the PK have looked very good for the first week. It's early yet. While I know Pens fans are disappointed, it's far too early to be really worried. I think they'll be at their usual spot in the top 5 or 6 teams in the entire league very soon. Toronto has been the biggest surprise in this first week I think.

I don't think Guerin, at his advanced age, is the answer either. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Dupuis isn't a first line or a second line winger in this League.

i've been very impressed with Letestu, good player and seems like a good kid as well...wacky season all around so far though.
On a Detroit note: Been really impressed with the play from Dats and Z. they've turned it up a notch, which is good cause the Modano/Hudler/Cleary (now im not so sure if it's Cleary or not!) line has yet to really step it up. Understandable though considering it's a new system for Modano, Hudler's back from Babcocks proclaimed "European Vacation" and Cleary is with two new linemates. Our D has really stepped it up in the face of having some injuries back there and Howards looked sharp, all this =5-1-1 which i'm pretty excited about...
It's been a little while now and the Devils are in real trouble. It's early yet but Brodeur looks tired and Ilya doesn't appear interested. If I was in NJ I'd be real irritated.
