NFL  > Dallas Cowboys  > OK !!! Lets Talk 2011 Draft !! lol
October 13, 2010, 01:28 PM
No I havent given up this year but if we lose Sunday the playoffs are not a subject among Cowboy fans. Last year the Cowboys lost 34-6 and we were hot at the time? Minnesota isnt the same team either but I see our line having problems protecting Romo. If we cant run the ball some we are in deep _ _ _t!
What are Cowboy fans thoughts on where we go in the draft? I feel our needs are in order of need,... OT, OG. C., S., DT., and CB., yes sorry but Jenkins looks like a very inconsistant player. I see us drafting somewhere between 15-20 as they look now. I expect them to get it together but itll be too late. Here are the top 5 of each of the positions from a very good draft site....

O Tackle

Anthony Costanzo Boston College
Derek Sherrard Boise State
DeMaris Love Arkamsas
Nate Solder Colorado
Gabe Carimi Wisconsin

Guard

Marcus Canon TCU
Rodney Hudson Florida State
Ben Ijalana Villanova

Mark Barron Alabama
Jeron Johnson Boise State
Deharne McDaniel Clemson

Do the Cowboys need a workhorse running back or is Felix Jones the guy?

Draft your needs?

OK...

First, draft a HC. Make sure he has a backbone.

Second, draft a QB, make sure he has leadership skills.

Romo is a leader. If he is on his back he can't throw the ball on target all the time. Don't tell me he has the pass blocking of Brady. Brees and Manning? Not remotely close. I was rooting for Wade because hes a good ole boy but I guess that doesn't work with pro athletes. Still hope he can get the team back to being decent like last year.

I do like Romo I just don't think he has that "it" factor to get us to the big game. There is more to being a great QB than just stats. There's an undefinable quality of leadership that I just don't see in Romo.

OK we agree to disagree. We'll see. We have Romo for the next three/four years atleast. If you question Romo you better hope McGee is a player. He did have the 300 yard preseason game vs Miami which shocked the hell out of me.

Lots of Dallas fans in Vegas? There are quite a few up here in NY. Unfortunately some bandwagon fans who don't wear their Cowboy gear. So what you get some ribbing. Back your team! I have many cards of the 88/89 Cowboys. They are part of Cowboy history too.

Dude...you don't even know. I was born in Dallas and am a LIFELONG fan, not a bandwagoner. I do wear the gear. I have shirts, jerseys, caps, charms, clocks, trading cards, jackets, etc. I've collected the stuff my whole life. I don't care about the ribbing...bring it on, but stop assuming you know what "type" of fan I am because I don't "adore" the owner and think we could get a better coaching staff. I'd rather be critical of my team than have someone else trash them.

A pink Romo jersey!? lol No, its nice you are a real fan. There might be some women fans who like the Cowboys because of Romo but you are hardcore. But are there lots of Dallas fans?

I think I will chime in here for a bit, just for the **** and giggles of it. First of all, Tony Romo is the best QB we've had since Aikman. Franchise QB's don't grow on trees, or Palmer in Cincinnati would be another Montana. He was a first round pick. What has he done lately? Dan Fouts, Fran Tarkington and Dan Marino never won SB's. Nor did Jim Kelly, although he did manage to get there 4 straight times.
Romo gets in a position trying to make a play, because someone has let him down, be it on the O line, or a receiver running the wrong route, and he has to improvise. He is not Aikman, or Staubach granted. But, I'd much rather one Romo than 45 Ryan Leafs, who also was a top pick. Or Anthony Wright, Clint Stoerner, Chad Hutchinson, or the numerous nobodies who tried to pass off as a QB. We do have a QB who can pass the ball and is pretty accurate, and I wouldn't trade him for all the gold in California.
The thing is, he is trying and learning as he goes. Not bad for an undrafted player. If he never gets to the SB, at least he's a winner, which is more than I can say for his predecessors and the 5-11 records. The real reason for the Cowboys not making the SB is the owner, and then trickles down from there.

As far as Jenkins is concerned, he is only in his 2nd year I think. Yes, he's not Deion Sanders, but no one else is either. He'll get his act together. The whole team is affected by whatever it is going around, not just certain individuals. I have my opinions on that, which I've mentioned on other threads.

We need a Head Coach...but a QB? That is just flat out stupid of you to say.

Romo is the 2nd most accurate QB in NFL HISTORY!

Leadership has nothing to do with where he is right now...coaching does.

The Cowboys need Jerry Jones to hire football experts and go back to just writing checks. The team was successful when Jimmy Johnson made the decisions and Jones kept his nose out of it. Meddling owners spell disaster. Just ask any Redskins fan.

I doubt very seriously that JJ will do that....at least totally. He's going to have his input. I think the only reason Parcells was able to control what he did was because the Cowboys were a sinking ship and needed righting and fast. Parcells got it back up, or at least to stop sinking anyway.

JJ will never hire a GM, because he is IT. His ego is as big as his "house".....this "house" that "his team" is supposed to play in come SB time. Wonder why every team in the NFL and Canada are gunning for the Cowboys? Other teams are plenty motivated even if the SB was played elsewhere. This is just added incentive, because if, and I mean IF, the Cowboys do make the SB and win, Jerry's head will grow even larger than it already is. Can you imagine the crowing he'd be doing, and the power he'd get?.....He has enough already.

Can you imagine JJ as Commissioner Jones one day? Think about it.
