Rodger has been a bright spot for the team this year. The team is the youngest in the NFL and they don't know how to win the close games. In time they will. Due to youth, the coaches need to do a better job at mentally preparing the players.
I was a Brett fan up until he decided after the draft he wanted to play. By that time the team drafted two quarter backs. He is not God-- he is not above the team. I believe management did the right thing by supporting Rodgers.
I hope Brett has a successful stint at the Jets. The better he does, the higher the draft pick the Packers will get.
There is something magical about Brett Favre. Its not a coincidence that he's only had one losing record in 18 seasons - the same number as Brady has had in 8 - and with a bunch of different coaches and supporting players. McCarthy shouldn't be fired for getting rid of Brett, cause Rodgers was the only logical choice. He should be fired for failing to utilize one of the best wide receiving corps in the league and for not trusting his QB. I also don't know what Thompson is planning on doing with that cap space... embezzlement maybe, cause we're not signing anyone.

The Packer radio announcers in the pre game last week made the point that in the NFL if you are a contender you win now or it passes you by having decided that passing on Favre was probably a mistake. The Packers were 13-3 and Favre was almost MVP. He carried the Packers which is obvious with the Jets and Packer present performance. The future was now and the Packers got their feelings hurt because Favre was flip-flopping and did not take Moss earlier which would have won them a Super Bowl because he is a royal pain. Egos got in the way of business and success. Packer fans are like sheep and will be happy just to have them battle for their division title with other mediocre teams and talk about the Lombardi and Holmgren years, along with how great things will be when Rodgers matures someday.
Brett magical? No way! NY Jets have been tooling with OF line, Brett was a fine topping like icing on a cake, but its fools gold, you won some this year, thats for sure but nothing will be gained by in the next few years if you dont have a younger QB to lead, Brett still play at 40 or 42? I fell off my bar stool laughing!!!!

Good points. I thought that TT and MM handled the Brett Favre situation quite well. However, if there are any reasons why they should be fired they are: TT - trading away a key part of out DLine (Corey Williams plays the harder 3-4 DE instead of 4-3 DT now if you want to point to his stats as mediocre), getting rid of a poor punter for an even worse punter. MM - not having the cahones to go for it on 4th and 1, deciding to run the ball when the pass offense is in a rhythm, the FG plan.
But if we fire anybody, it should be the defensive coordinator/special teams coordinator. They've really fouled up games.
so many people have a problem with rodgers and management and coaching because of this whole season. Statistically rodgers is better, he needs a few things to work on but he is keeping the team in games and the defense is giving it away. This off season they made the bad choice of getting rid of corey williams and jon ryan was bad but he was ranked 5th among punters a few games ago. Our line has played terrible this year on defense and offense, thus not allowing grant to get anything going and he was just struggling over all. The only thing that has been solid was the pass defense which recently has been going down a little bit too. Too many injuries, MM giving up on the run too early. This has all hurt us a lot. Favre was good but so was the rest of the team he played with. For much of his career he played with a great defense that helped him win, something rodgers hasn't had the best of this year. Favre isn't god, he may have nearly all meaningful pass record but he also leads in interceptions. You know, the reason we weren't in the superbowl last year? I like favre a lot but I haven't been as excited about him still being around if it weren't for fans blaming rodgers. It was the best long term decision, we can't win with a 40+ year old quarterback and it's good that we see that rodgers is capable and tough, he has taken a lot of hits this year and still plays well. McCarthy has made some bad play calls and the defense has played very poor. this offseason they need to pick up some people to add some depth to d-line and maybe a little for the offensive line if that can't pick up. I think it was just the transition and bad health for the whole team this year that is a big part of the struggle but this team is clearly capable. That was a long rant and I could say more but I will save it.
I don't live in Wisconson but I have been a Green Bay Fan since I was 6 years old. I checked out a book in my school library about the Packers , Bart Starr, Vince Lombardi, and the first 2 Super Bowls, I must've read it 10 times and I was hooked. I'm 38 now and I remember most of my childhood the Packers were'nt good but maybe 1 or 2 seasons that I recall ( James Lofton, and the "Bomb Squad" year when they lost to Dallas is a vague memory.) I'll never forget when Brett came in for the Magic man that day and from that moment on, the Packers were suddenly winners ! For all that Brett did for so many years I could not believe how things went down. Sure Brett had teams around him all those years and did'nt win games by himself (at least not all the time) but the one thing that was constant was Brett Farve. The way it ended with Green Bay left a bad taste in my mouth. I can't stand McCarthy or Thompson and I think they made a huge mistake. Aaron Rodgers unfortunatly has been caught up in the middle of all this, I really think he's a good quarterback. I really don't understand the fans that turned their back on Farve, The man is a living legend. All I know is over the years I was a Green Bay fan (X-mas 1982 my best present was a Riddell Green Bay helmet, $29.95 in the Sears Wishbook) During all those winning seasons in the 90's and beyond,I always loved the Packers, but after everything that's happened, somewhere along the ride, I've become more of a Brett Farve fan.

Got to give Rodgers a chance, even Farve had his down times on the frozen tundra.

How many quarterbacks can you name who have thrived with so many different coaches and so many different supporting casts. Brett makes a difference, whatever it is

Your commentI was born and raised in Appleton, Wisconsin. Coincidentally i moved to NYC at the same time as Brett. The dynamics are crazy over here, still walking through the city and seeing more Favre Jets jerseys than any other jersey leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm 23 and only really know Brett as my QB, he has been my hero since i was 7. That said i think this is all beyond brett. Brett being my hero, will never take precedence over my love for the Packers, team is always first. That said Ted Thompson should be shown the door. I like aaron rodgers and think he will eventually be a stud, but the brett favre debauchery was inexcusable. The Packers have a tradition of being professional through these matters, TT never showed an ounce of that once. But beyond Brett, TT doesn't believe in free-agency, only looks at #'s and he is not respected by the majority of packer fans in the least. Ron Wolf was a legend because he took chances and was football smart. TT belongs in an office here in NYC, not a pro-football GM. His drafts have been less than steller, he has thrown away first round picks like they dont matter, if it isnt an obvious choice (see AJ HAWK). Some may say he has found great players from the draft...well with the most drafts picks in the NFL since '05 at 43 players, I'd hope we would have a Greg Jennings or a Nick Collins-but with 43 picks, there should be plenty more than a handful. Point being, we're ready for a new GM. He doesnt live up to the Packer glory or tradition that us Wisconsinites take so much pride in.
