NFL  > Cleveland Browns  > Colt, the rookie's 1st start.
October 17, 2010, 09:43 PM
Colt started the game with the Steelers as a green rookie, and it showed. He was shell-shocked by the speed of the game. He made nervous decisions to leave the pocket before it was necessary. What he didn't do early on was to make stupid decisions. What I enjoyed about watching him play is how quickly he learned and matured.

And what a gun he has. I don't think the browns have had a QB with his accuracy in quite a while. I feel confident that he will prove to be a better pick than expected in the late 3rd round. If we can just get a couple of real wide-outs to support him, our offense will be better than OK.

The defense on the other hand..... What we thought were strengths were just slight improvements to a sub par unit. They were just embarrassed. Time to look for a new defensive coordinator. Ryan's scheme has everyone in the wrong position. I just don't have the words for how poorly they tried to perform. I am surprised they didn't allow 50+ points.

I thought he got a raw deal in the draft... He shouldn't hang his head for the loss for what he had to face with only a week working with the first team all season. Playing really well concidering your only playmaker was taken out of the game. He is better than Clauson and Tebow.. You fans should be happy, I think McCoy has got a good future

Despite being shell shocked at first he looked very good in the second half. He finished with some the best stats an opposing QB has yet put up against the Steelers D, no easy task.He finished with 70% completions, 8.5 yards per pass attempt, 1 TD, 2 picks and took 5 sacks. Against a lesser defense he would have looked like Brady or Manning.

He did very good considering it was one of the top defenses in the league. Imagine what he'll do against a team like the Buccaneers or Cowboys.

I'm a Colt fan so now I'm a Browns fan.

Congrats are in order for the Steelers. They won the game and no women were assaulted ... yet.

LOL! Typical response from a Bubbaville-ite......Seriously, though....young McCoy showed some moxie in today's game. The Browns may have finally found an answer to their QB question.

Thought Colt played reasonably well... now let's get him back on the bench and let him watch the rest of the season. I thought once he caught up to the speed of the game he looked good. He was throwing with his feet under him, and he started to make some nice adjustments.

I was impressed with Colt. He had everything going against him heading into the game, lost 2 WRs during the game, and still put up a good first showing. He threw the ball downfield pretty well in those last few drives...kinda makes me wish they would have let him chuck it down the field earlier in the game.

I agree. Colt had a great game and he'll only get better.

I agree with you, but getting him back on the bench will not be an easy task before Wallace returns.

It's true we may not have an option. This has turned into the major discussion on the other thread. I just hope we don't end up with a guy who over the next several weeks gets hammered and gun shy as people start to be able to read him more. It may be a moot point, and obviously this is all just my opinion and I am sitting at home, so not necessarily a qualified opinion at that :)

Your opinion is noted Buck.

On the plus side, this rookie has Joe Thomas on his blindside.
