NFL  > Pittsburgh Steelers  > ROAD TRIP: #2/SAINTS
October 26, 2010, 12:16 AM
Steelers fans breathed a collective sigh of relief this past Sunday as the D finally put together a game-ending stop to close one out. Give credit where credit is due, the Dolphins probably played their toughest game of the year so far. But 3 turnovers by your opponent in their territory will all but assure a victory. Not so on this day, as the D repeatedly bent but didn't break. Unfortunately, 99% of the game play was overshadowed by 1 late play....the BR TD/fumble/FG....

Anyway, on to this week.....the Saints in the "Big Easy." With the loss of Aaron Smith, the D line is pretty thin. However, the play of several rookies filling in for Woodley, Smith and Keisel ( including an awesome strip of Henne for an "INT" on the last play ) bodes well for Dick Lebeue's D. Steelers also look like they have a bona fide KO returner now...After the embarrasing smack-down the Saints recieved at the hands of the Browns, I expect 1 of 2 things: either they will pin their ears back and give the Steelers all they can handle, or they will mail in another game......should be interesting

I'm not gonna lie, this game has me really really nervous.

The Defensive Line is looking mighty thin without Aaron Smith and Brett Kiesel. And EVERY Steeler fan knows how much Smith means to the devastating run defense.

I'm still not convinced Mendenhall is a game changer, although he is certainly serviceable. But the Offensive Line is also looking pretty thin.

The Saints can look like world beaters, but then they've lost to the Brownies and Arizona so who knows which team will show up. I hate to say it, but I think losing to the Brownies last week is a bad thing as they'll come out guns a blazing.

That being said, the fact that the Saints are hurting at the RB position should benefit the Steelers and LeBeau will have time to game plan for Brees and their vaunted passing attack.

I'm going with the Steelers 60/40 on this one.

I think the Steelers will have to play alot less sloppy than last week. Ben's gotta do a better job of protecting the rock. Tomlin should watch ALOT of game film from the Browns game to see what schemes worked on Brees & Co. I don't think Bush is gonna cause much damage running the ball, but if Brees loads up for 50-60 passes, our D is going to be very tired.....

Like I said before.....the Steelers had to play less sloppy to win this game. The Heath Miller fumble completely turned the tide of this game. I have to admit, though that BOTH teams played well enough to deserve the win. The Saints, as I expected, came out like an embarrassed team and played in front of a home crowd/on national TV, like a team that had something to prove. Drew Brees played his BEST game of the season. The Steelers had to play almost a perfect game to beat the Saints this week. Unfortunately, they were a few plays short....congrats to Brees & Saints! Well played......
