Sam,
good post. I think your guys got trapped in the "perfect storm". It happens, it is the NFL--no sure things. As you point out at the end is the game next week. Can your G-men shake it off like Patriots shook off the Browns loss to trounce the Steelers last night?
A loss to philly next week could start a slide like you guys had last year. I think Coughlin is a good coach but holds his guys together by a thread....when things go wrong they go wrong big. Dallas is out for the year, playing for pride and jobs. Giants have a lot at stake, good luck.

Thanks +40,
It doesn't feel like the melt down of last season, Really it never felt right even when we went 8-0 last year. From game 1 to 16 I was never happy with the team last year. Bill sheridan was really just that bad,
What happen last night it just seemed like we were not prepared because really what was the last good game the Cowboyas had that you can go back to the film and prepare for them? I would like to just chalk this up as a trap game loss. After the 1st quarter you could see the Giants pulling out binders, pictures... picking plays they never really practiced for all week. Who knew Kitna still had a deep ball in him? Really it was just stupid-ness on their part.
My mind has mostly been focused on the games vs the Eagles and Packers coming off the bye. Seahawks and Coyboys weren't realy a concern... Maybe the Giants felt the same way?
Next week vs the Eagles is the game to see where we stand. They really kicked our butts last year. So I hope Fewell has the perfect gameplan for the Eagles and Vick because it will really have to be perfect!

First off...sorry Sam...but YIPPEE for the Boyz!!! Did anyone else notice how different the sideline atmosphere was yesterday??
Sam I agree with your assesment regarding Steve Smith. The Cowboys have never had an answer for Smith and he was sorely missed last night. However that doesn't excuse Manning from throwing balls directly to Cowboys' players. As bad as Manningham may have played those picks were just awful and the bad snap/Manning fumble deep in Giants territory was awful too. However when the game was on the line Brady James stepped up and stuffed Brandon Jacobs. I think that play right there is a reflection on the changes Jason Garrett is trying to instill. James himself admitted to it in a post game interview.

Yeah it's just that trust factor with Smith and the "maybe or maybe not a catch" with Manningham. Boss has the hands but not the legs. Smith has been eating up the Cowboys since he was a #2 WR. So Eli having to play without him is going to be a challenge the next couple of weeks.

Your Boys deserved it, Can't take anything away from them. Just hope you guys help us out down the road by beating the Eagles.. Who knows 8-8 could get you in the playoffs, the way things are going in the league!!!

I completely agree with your post Sam. I was at the game and it was horrible to watch, especially because the rest of my family are Cowboy fans (unfortunately). First the blackout was pretty intense. It was only for about 30 seconds, but it was still scary. That is enough time to have all different thoughts going through your head. It didn't help that all the player were told to drop to the floor and just lay there! As for the game, I wish the lights stayed off the whole time! Like Sam said, the Giants were disgustingly unprepared for this game. They thought it was going to be a breeze to play a 1-7 team. I think Smith being out for his injury was a key problem is the weak offense as Manningham barely reached the 1st down make every time he fell. I hope the Giants can reflect on this terrible loss, fix their problems and come back and beat the Eagles this Sunday, for a HUGE win!

The Smith factor again will be an issue this week, Hurting on the O-Line... It's really going to to be up to the running game to get our First downs vs the Eagles or atleasy make it 3rd and shorts. Vs the cowboys we had so many 3rd and longs that the only person that could make the catch and get the first wasn't playing. Keeping Vick off the field is the best thing the Offense can do and I hope Perry Fewell is going into this game wanting to make a statement and really make this a signature game for him and the Defense, cause really thats what it's going to take.
