NCAAF  > General NCAAF  > Sean Strehl QB from Eureka High School - Best Qb in Missouri - Not Cimmited anywhere yet
November 15, 2010, 10:55 PM
This kid has it all but he has not commited anywhere yet. Some school needs to pick him up...Over 2000 yds passing 145completions for 217 attempts, and only 3 interceptions. He rushed for 138 attempts for 800 yds no fumble. Big arm and quick. Eureka High School scores 35 pts per game, with a passer rating of 121. Last year his team was not good so he is under the radar. Teams need to look at him. He is Div 1-A level all the way.

Ok, Dad.

Does he need a date for the prom, too?

We need 40 times, and ht-wt. Video footage.

It's the age of the Internet, your boy needs a Youtube page and Blu-Ray-HD burner.

I'll help you out since I'm in St. Charles. Has Mizzou looked at the kid?

They have a kid out of KC, they offered him in 2009. Mizzou is done when it come to QB's.

Cool. Good luck to him. He's got very good awareness and looks like a powerful runner.

From an (untrained) scouting point of view - just from my studying the motions of QBs back in college (like Dan Marino, Joe Montana, and Kerry Collins) and working on my own mechanics (it's like the buddy on the golf course who thinks he can give you one tip to fix everything): the one thing that stands out is a low release point.

It fluctuates between the shoulder pad to the top of the helmet for longer throws. He 'zips' or 'pushes' it like a shot put or dart instead of extending higher like an MLB pitcher. I think his arm strength is much stronger than what he's showing in the videos.

Contrasting that to Peyton Manning (above), the best throwing motion ever IMO: Manning gets full extension of the arm and maximizes power. The throwing shoulder is quite a bit higher than his lead shoulder. That's critical for getting the ball out over bigger lines in FBS and the pros.

The throwing motion looks closer to Philip Rivers, who is known for his side-arm motion. But even Rivers extends his arm out farther away from his shoulder.

Just my untrained eye. Because I'm bored.

I think your right Grue. In all seriousness, this could be the kid's dad.

Who else would get this excited over a guy who hasn't even committed yet?

Manning and Rivers, that's an excellent contrast.

You would need to market him with actual game tape. The highlights look good, but for a coaching staff to take notice they will need to more than touchdowns and positive plays. I'm not being a prick pr anything, I just speak from experience. Anyone can be made to look good in a highlight tape. They will want to see the bad plays, his reaction to them, the way he handles adversity, things like that.

Another thought for him would be to go the juco or prep school route. It may not be success and satisfaction he wants initially, but long term it could benefit him.

He has a good look and handles himself well, stay square to the field and has a nice delivery. Maybe its a case of small school with an average record, schools take that stuff into account. Good Luck to him, I will pas this video in to a couple schools I know of...

Yea, I put them in the same sentence. Wanna make somethin of it? ;-)

Collins was simply easy to watch and his throwing motion was often criticized for being TOO long. And lead to high interception totals along with excellent downfield strength.

The tradeoff for this kid is the opposite. Shorter motion = quicker release but less power.

Marino often dropped into a quick-release on his 5 step drops. He had a couple different motions and was very difficult to sack. He'd drop back with the ball at his ear and push it out with no wind-up. It worked for slants to the speedy guys like Clayton, Duper, McDuffie.

A lot of small town schools take pride in their athletes they want the best for them and want to help them as much as they can....

...and if it is his Dad kudos to him for taking the recruiting battle in his own hands and thinking outside the box. Sometimes quirky things can happen and if this ends up helping his son get some shine and scholly, I say good work!

I agree. I'd much rather see posts like this than spammers pimping websites with mass attacks.

Most of us like talking recruiting anyway.

Thanks for all the feed back on Sean. I have been trying to help him get is name out in the mainstream. It is hard to get him noticed by big schools. Sean and the Eureka Wildcats had a not so good year last year, so no one noticed him. This year Eureka had a very good year (9-2), but lost first round to Lindbergh. Sean broke ever passing record in the schools hsitory.

Sean works out with a QB coach named Matt Bierman, he was Blaine and Tyler Gabbert's of Missouri QB coach, when Blaine and Tyler were in high school. Matt Bierman thinks Sean capable of playing at a D 1A level.

I'll give this kid a bump to the top, I like the angle of the pub for him.

Excellent advice, 84.
