Wade Phillips' job should be in jeopardy. With all of the talent this team has it should have been smooth sailing. The team rarely looks mentally prepared for it's games. That's the coaches fault.
I really get sick of watching Wade Phillips when the most excited he gets is when the opponent misses a field goal. Dropped passes, interceptions, fumbles, blow coverages, and penalties his expression never changes he just looks dopey.
Like his daddy said...."There's two kinds of coaches, them that's fired and them that's gonna be fired."
This team is done. Their only hope is an off-season coaching change. Somebody with some fire. Someone like Sparano who they let slip through the proverbial fingers. Or Jeff Fisher who was teetering with not returning to TN this year and who is in my opinion the best coach in football. Someone with some FIRE in the belly. That includes the coordinators too. Look at Dallas' sideline at any time on any game. It looks like an oil painting. No zip. No fire. No enthusiasm. They are trying to coach this team like they are conducting a Monday morning status meeting in an accounting office. They think they can win just because they are the Dallas Cowboys, and JJ does not help with his attitude either. Football is still a game played on a field. A game of momentum, enthusiasm, energy, and desire. The Cowboy coaches simply do not know how to inspire and cultivate those emotions in the team. They need to all go, including Garrett - he just stands there with his eyeballs peering over his clipboard all game long. He's way overrrated.

Yes but its not his fault. There are to many injuries. And not enough solutions.

Wade Phillips is a good coordinator but not a good head coach. We all know JJ hired him to be his yes man. If the Boys had a hard core coach that didnt take crap or give the 30something guys days off they would be right up there with the NFL elite.

With this amount of talent you knew it was just a matter of time before ego's got in the way of the real picture the SB. What do you think this team would have been able to do if Bill was still here with this amount of talent? I think that with his talent and his ability to control the BS in the locker room like he has done with all the teams that he has coached in the past Big D would be in the capt chair all the way. Look what he has done with Miami this year, tell me that is not the sleeper team of the year.
The problem is T.O. He is a very gifted athlete who destroys football teams. Jerry brought in Wade to improve the team defensively which he has done. Even with all the drama and injuries, you can't completely count Dallas out. Their defense is peeking right now.
Keep wade....get rid of T.O............and without a ton of injuries you have a superbowl contender.
Keep him as the DC and tell Garrett to spank T.o. like an infatuated 5 year old at Toys R Us, until he acts right in public.
All this talk about fire Wade and what it was like when Parcells was there. First off I am glad somebody said last night on the NFL network that, the team is something like 28-8 under Wade, something I have pointed out all year. yet everybody want to throw him to the wolves. And what about when Parcells was there? He had a great eye for talent and did build up the team but don't forget he brought in a lot of guys that use to play for him that are probably as old as me. Vinny Testeverdy, Bloodsoe, just to mention a few. When he coached they played conservative most of the time which cost them many games.Look there were times I wanted to see him snap but that ain't his style. Everybody is not a hot head, and everybody that hollar and screams don't necessarly make good leaders. Put Felxic Jones in last weeks game against the Steelers; the man was good for at least seven or more every week.Injuries have killed them not to mention stupid mistakes. But correct me if I'm wrong, they made those kind of mistakes when Parcells was there and were the highest pentalized team in the NFL. As for all this crap about the arguing, he is right. Guys do argue, maybe the press needs to grow up?My problem with TO is not what he said or didn't say, I think he be dropping too many passes on his own. Plus he ain't as physical as he use to be. If he would fight some of those coverages sometimes he might get a call sometimes. No Wade is a cooler and he defuses situations. But he is never going to get any respect until he wins in the playoff. I'm pulling for the guy myself!
Well, Jerry Jones has done his part. Has has passed out the cash like it was going out of style. It's time for the coaches and players to meet their end of the bargain. I like Phillips, and he is doing a masterful job calling the D right now, but I wanna see some results. I'm like J. Jones - show me some playoff wins or hit the road. There is a billion dollar stadium that needs to be paid for, so they need to step it up. Romo will never be in the same category as Aikman until he leads them to and wins the big show, period. Dan Marino was a heckofa guy and was a great leader, but he never got them over the hill. Tony Marino? I hope not. They have all of the pieces in place. Time to put up or shut up. Baltimore? Philly? Just stepping stones. Playoffs? We'll see what they are made of starting Saturday night. (And, Romo needs to stop wearing those pimp hats during his press conferences.)

doesn't anyone want to recognize the role of the media and public relations being conducted at all levels? do you think that the "family" metaphor put forth by phillips was just a spur of the moment remark? it looks like the cowboys are in the middle of a highly successful pr campaign, one that should culminate in yet another powerful motivator - "defense wins championships". this team is not only in the drivers seat on the field, but also with the media. way to go jerry, t.o., romo, witten, phillips. not only have you established the ability to navigate the treacherous national media , but you have turned it to your advantage. only with the cowboys would this be even remotely possible.
reporters, now is the time to jump on the bandwagon - everyone else is in serious denial. of course not all of you can do this without eating some major crow! its up to you! but know this... the cowboys are in charge - you are simply reactionists to their dominant framing of their own destiny!

Is he coaching in Dally? Is JJ still the owner?? There you go then....
You guys are comical...Wade's job SHOULDN'T be in jeapordy...he took over the defense about 6 weeks ago and since then has taken them from 11th in the league to 7th in defense...his play calling has also brought them from 23pts a game to 16.
Garrett is NOT ready to coach this team yet and quite frankly will be a daunting task for a 1st time head coach who is also calling the plays. Someone above said he is the worst play caller? How do you figure? Do you have ANY clue? Dallas was in the Top 8 in offense BEFORE Romo went down and dropped to around 11th after with sorry **** Brad Johnson at the helm. Since then they have faced a tough Skins defense, plus the #1 ranked Steelers and put up more yds on them than anyone else ALL season and just beat the #6 ranked Giants defense.
They have the #2 ranked Ravens and #4 ranked Eagles to close it out...tell me somewhere in your infinite wisdom what Garrett has done wrong?
The only way if I were Jerry Jones and I let go of Wade was to bring in Bill Cowher...otherwise, there is no one else I would care for.
Mike Holmgren is now a new rumor but wont fit in Dallas because he calls offensive plays and that would mean Dallas loses Garrett too.
Outside of that, there is no one who would be better suited to take them over.
Dallas lost their starting QB for 3 games, their backup running back for the season and has lost their starting left guard and his backup as well...let alone Barber for the last few weeks.
On D they have had Williams out at saftey and then his backup Watkins is gone and now Hamlin and Davis are banged up. Newman was out for several weeks, plus PacMan being in and out...
Between all the friggin injuries, the constant drama with the media and they way they have played of late...Dallas at 9-5 is NOT all that bad and I commend Wade for what he has done.
Are there better coaches? Yes....but they are employed currently...the ones that are unemployed are unemployed for a reason...
JeffHart24, Holmgren would work in Dallas because he has a good relationship with JJ and he runs a west coast style of offense. This is what T.O. said he needed when interviewed by Deion Sanders. We all know that Jerry gives T.O. what he wants so Holmgren fits. By the way, it is plainly obvious T.O. can't stand Garrett. Look for JJ to be looking for a new OC. Holmgren would be able to replace Phillips as head coach, replace Garretts play calling, install a new offense that pleases T.O., and provide leadership to a team desperate for it.
The main concern is how do the cowboys make it to the superbowl. Wade has secured a job by the way defense is playing and he needs to stay as a coordinator on defense al least. Brain Stewart is definitely gone for sure this year.
Jason's job is in jeopardy if he cannot fix his system on offense ASAP. If garrett goes then Holmgren could come in to run that offense. Remember T.O had the second best year of his career last year and our offense was ranked 1 or 2. We need to get him more involved cus we stand a better chance of winning. Roy Williams will not take us to the superbowl.
I dont care how old Bard Johnson is but we could not put up points against some of the easiest defenses under Johnson so what makes you think Garrett is that good. Lets go back to T.O int with Deion Sanders and we will see that it is clear that teams have caught up to the cowboys offense. Last year when we played used all the weapons on offense we were ranked top 3 this year only God knows what we are ranked. Our offense needs to find ways to score points which they have not done in our last couple games.
a lot are suggesting a strong personality in the Big 'D', JJ doesn't go for that, he wants to be the big dog, that is why Jimmy Johnson is gone and why Bill Parcels is gone, that is why Jones keeps hiring coaches that can coach, but the final say is JJ. If the team falls apart, which it will, then JJ will bring in a strong personality such as Bill Cower and have him turn the team around, after that, Bill will leave, because JJ wants the spotlight and the credit, and in some ways, JJ deserves it since he is writing the checks and the buck stops with him. So it will always be the other 'D' in Dallas, it will be Drama.
The PLAYERS are what makes ANY system good, not the coach...
Garrett is an up and coming head coach, but not yet.
He is a solid Offensive Coordinator and Jerry is paying him the most of any asst in the league b/c Jerry didnt want to install an entirely new system while this team is in its prime.
Cant blame him there.
I do not think Garrett will get as many job offers this year, 1 - b/c there wont be that many and 2 - b/c the Boys are not making noise...
Now, if they win the SuperBowl or make a deep playoff run, that is a different story.
If Garrett goes, then I can see Holmgren come into play but I think this is more about Garrett than it is about Wade Phillips.
Wade has done a solid job, and he has done a great job with the D.
Head coaches dont do much now-a-days anyway and Jerry and company do most of the scouting and recruiting when it comes to the draft.
But, like I said, this is going to be a domino process in Dallas....Garrett goes, then probably Wade too and then Holmgren and Cowher come into play.
Jerry wants a big name coach with credentials, otherwise, why change everything and bring in a new system when your team is 21-6 over the last 2 seasons with Romo starting.
Wade Phillips is this tears barry switzer. Last year he was coaching parcells team, this year he is coaching wade phillips team. The difference is painfully obvious. Bower for head coach.
Jason is the next coach and Wade will be there until Jerry says it's time to plug Jason in the spot.
