NFL  > General NFL  > Spammer Nation, formerly known as Fan Nation.

What is Fan Nation becoming? It looks like everyone has left for 'better' sports forums. The spammers have taken over this place, and nothing is being done about it. It's like FN has become infested with roaches! It used to be we could come in here and enjoy a lot of discussion, arguments, post our thoughts on any given subject, and deal with trolls as they came. Trolls, for the most part, don't bother me. What bothers me is these spammers.......esrever ni-XPTG, for example, has taken over an entire page with GARBAGE, knocking any and all legitimate boards back where one has to dig for them.

I have been here for 3 years, and I have never seen such a blatant disregard for legit posters as I have this year. I make comments, humorous and with no profanity, to these spammers, and get my comment deleted, because I inquired about the spammers name, or would rather buy a jersey made of paper instead of cloth????? How is that insulting and offensive?

I would bet you a nickel to to a box of donuts NO Moderator will respond to this...and that's a damn shame, because it may just be these moderators are on the take for allowing these fools to post all this BS and garbage, making this site look like one big advertising agency instead of a sports forum.

IF YOU MODERATORS TAKE OFFENSE AT WHAT I SAY HERE, THEN I DARE YOU TO RESPOND!! DON'T TAKE THE CHICKEN **** WAY OUT OF IT, AND DELETE THIS BOARD, BUT RESPOND LIKE A DAMN MAN/WOMAN. I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU TO GIVE ME ONE SANE REASON FOR WHY THIS GARBAGE IS BEING ALLOWED. .....JUST ONE!!

If this reason sounds legitimate, then I will delete my account and go on somewhere else. However, I see no legitimate reason for these idiots to come in here and post stupid crap like the aforementioned spammer.

anybody know how I can watch Pittsburgh Steeler games on-line?

all kidding aside....I agree with just about everything you say BS....
the trolls don't really bother me much either--they are quite entertaining at times.
the spam is totally out of control
I suspect that the large majorityof the spam originates from just a few servers...maybe something could be done to stop the creation of account from certain IP addresses

They should use IP & MAC Address filtering to get rid of the spammers...

I agree the trolls can be somewhat entertaining, and I have fun with some, but most of the time I ignore them. I'm really fed up with this spam crap, and the non action of the moderators. But yet, I see boards looking like a war zone with 'craters' everywhere, where comments have been deleted. Most of which had no reason being deleted, because if someone quotes them, the comment remains, even though the original was gone. I see nothing offensive in most of those, and it makes me wonder about the integrity of these moderators.
I'm still waiting on a response from one now, but he may be "on vacation".

Best episode this weekend was a LONG string of "watch.....xxxxx this weekend online" posts like a dozen and of course they percolated here for hours without a comment. Finally they all had a hit, ONE hit and it was from the Cheap Jerseys and Knockoff Reebok crowd! Priceless, in that these clowns don't even know what they are posting on.

Thanks to our active and erstwhile Mods you can probably still find these jewels here in the messageboards.

GTPX - In Reverse was not a spammer, but a rogue troll that had decided to run amok while the mods were away. What you thought was spam, was really GTPX copying one of the spammer posts and pasting it where ever he could. For some reason, the guy feels slighted, has issues, and was looking for attention.

he often takes advantage of the light weekend moderation and typically does this type of thing in the TD section. Unfortunately, he decided to go to the boards and T & R section this time, because he wasn't getting what he wanted elsewhere.

Well said B.S. I can't believe F.N. allows those guys to post those ads. I guess the free advertisement is actually not free.

The spammers should be seen as an embarassment to the site. Sort of like kids TP'ing your house. How can you let someone into your yard and not do anything about it? The Mods are conceding defeat...maybe they have Phillips or Childress as supervisors?

November 23, 2010  02:12 PM ET

I'm tired of the spamming on this site...i like golf and it's worse than the others. Anybody have any suggestions for a good alternative site?

November 23, 2010  08:00 PM ET

It's disgusting. And the Mods don't even care.

Fannation has become Sports Illustrated's cobweb filled attic.---A long time FN member told me that a few weeks ago and I must say I agree. There are areas of FN that haven't seen a bit of employee activity since the original site designers were bounced out of this place. As crappy as things can get around here, there's just no place like home and that's why we stay.

Apologies if this posts twice.
