NFL  > Chicago Bears  > And now the Eagles, how much of a chance do we really have?
November 22, 2010, 05:48 PM
With our defense and special teams we can compete with anyone. But to beat the good teams and teams like the Eagles we MUST have more from our offense. The recent weeks have been encouraging for the offensive line but I don't think we have seen the best we can be yet. I really doubt if our offense will get it together this week despite the extra days of practice. I do think that this game will serve as a motovator for the rest of the season to make them work together and actually maybe win a game or more in the playoffs. With the personel we have on our offense we could be very effective. It's just getting everyone working on the same page at the same time. We need an effective running game and at least an opportunistic enough passing game that can take advantage of the field positions it has been given by the D and Specials. Untill that time (Which I haven't seen yet.) we don't have the capabilities to win the big games no matter how well the d and specials play. We also need to get the offense to be able to come back on Cutler's arm like Payton Manning, etc., can and often do. I believe this team is capable of it, it's just that the process of working together that's the problem. I hope we don't have to wait untill next year after another draft to add the players to make the Bears a true Super Bowl contender and capable of winning every time they take the field. Whether they are at home or away, a good team is competitive and effecient week end and out. This is a sign of a good NFL team something that I think the Bears are on the verge of becoming but just aren't there yet. To me it's just a matter of time. I just hope it's sooner than later. Go BEARS!!!

And then you'll lose when you meet a team like the Colts, the Patriots, the Falcons, the Eagles. You can get into the playoffs, but can you stop a team with a prolific offense? The Bears haven't done that yet. That would be what would concern me if I were a Chicago fan. They had a slightly soft schedule the first half of the season--but that is certainly not the case from this point forward. If the Bears D wins them a game against the Eagles then things change a bit.

Can't disagree with that. Playing the Pats, Eagles and Jets, along with our divisional games all being on the road ... now the hard part comes. And losing to crap like the Skins and Seahawks comes back to haunt us.

I would consider the Packers, Cowboys & Vikings to all have prolific offenses...all three team QB's were selected to Pro Bowl, plus at least seven other skilled players...They just ran into Urlacher, Briggs, and Peppers this defense is putting the hat on people like no other defense in the NFL.

It is like I have been saying, the Bears just keep winning and getting no respect...I love it

Cowboys and Vikings are not the same teams this year. They've struggled against everyone. That's why their head coaches got fired. (For example, the Vikings rank #30 overall in scoring offense.)

Yeah, I knew you would pull the Cowboys and Vikings out of your ****. Those games are not against prolific offenses--they were broken teams. Just because no one knew Dallas was going to suck doesn't change the fact that they suck. It doesn't make the Bears win more impressive--it gets less impressive with each embarrassing Cowboy loss. The game against the Packers was the only one they should have had trouble with--and Green Bay beat themselves as much as the Bears beat them. If you think that same team is going to show up then you're going to be disappointed. The Bears could be legit, but they haven't done enough to prove it yet.

How you know so much about me or my thinking, and your account is brand new...

Because your a dupe...go away...go play in the middle of the interstate

They committed nine penalties against Peppers...that is why they lost...they could have just let Rodgers die...

These were very good healthy teams that we faced, who won division titles last year...
Get over it...

Don't tell me you think Peppers is having a good year. You can't, it's impossible, their defense as whole, yes but not Peppers. And if the Bears make the playoffs I would be shocked but I would have to tip my cap to them. Their schedule is brutal from here on out, best of luck Chicago.

Wow! I was definitely unaware of this fact.

Actually Peppers is having a great year, you cannot judge solely on sacks alone. Peppers more times than not is double teamed once in awhile I've seen a double team with a chip block from a T.E. or R.B. and that leaves blitzing lanes open and one on one blocks at the opposite end & tackles. Idonije is having a decent year due to Peppers taking the double teams, the linebackers are getting sacks & pressure due to Peppers, a major reason why the defense is improved this season is Peppers. Having him also helps the secondary because now the line is getting pressure on the Q.B. forcing him to make quick decisions and not allowing plays to develop down field taking some pressure of the secondary.

You obviously have not seen them play very often...or you do not understand the game...I hope it is this first.

For someone who is not having a good year, I would bet you $100.00 that he is a unanimous pick by the coaches for the Pro Bowl...

The Bears have one of the best defenses and special teams in the NFL. If they had any kind of an offense they'd be 10-0.

10-0 would be stretch...I would say 9-1 was more realistic, but if not for the dirty helmet to helmet hit on Cutler by the Giants it could be 10-0...but if you change two to three plays a game for your team the outcome would be different for a lot of teams.

I don't know about 10-0 but defiantly should have had the Seahawks & Skins game, so at this point they should be 9-1. But I agree the offense is the big weakness especially the line. A rough schedule coming up will tell if it's a house of cards or playoff bound, at this point I am as skeptical as everyone else and need to see some wins against what I consider better/playoff caliber teams.

A win's a win, and the Bears have scored plenty to be a contender for the play-offs. Our defense is getting the job done, special teams are on top of their game; it's our offense that's struggling. Chicago is where quarterbacks come to die. If only Cutler could cope with the pressure some other way-it's like he forgets who he's playing for. Sunday will be a tough game. HOWEVER- never say never. Love the underdogs. GO BEARS!

The Bears have the record they do because of the way they have played. When they lost they came out flat with no D or at least inferior to what they have usually played this season. This just exposes their main flaw. No O. We all know it takes 2 to 2 1/2 seasons to get Martz's O down and effective. To get through this we need to run, run, and run some more. With another draft, (Hopefully an effective and helpful one. [A rarity for JA]) we could become a superbowl contender year in and year out. But we MUST find an Offensive Offense. Now, not just next year to be considered a Super Bowl contender THIS year. Don't believe the smoke blown about Jay this or that. Jay is a ProBowl QB, and deep down these people who dis him know this and fear him and his capabilities. He scares them!!! And they don't want us to be able to become effective with him. We have always been controlable and beatable because of our QB postition. Well no more so chin up Bear fans. If we can't do it now then next year is the beginning of a new BEAR DYNASTY!!! Go BEARS!!!

Packer land South, I say welcome to the Bears site as long as you keep undercontrol and don't start destroying your arguments by getting into little name calling spats which destroy your credibility and our site. I welcome a friendly disagreement as long as it's friendly and honorable. After all we are all AMERICANS aren't we? However once you start calling people names etc. you just destroy yourself!!! I go to the other teams sites sometimes but respectfully agree to disagree with them. See what I mean? Go BEARS!!!
