Actually, no. Paul Brown was the namesake of, but did not own, the Browns. The owner was Arthur McBride. He Who Shall Remain a Fecal Stain Forever and Shall Bathe In Hellfire For All Eternity bought the Browns in 1961 and proceeded, in the first of a string of incomprehensible moves, fired Paul Brown in 1963. Paul Brown did own the Bungholes.

Most likely the "Browns" were named for Coach Brown, however, some believe the Browns were named for boxing champ Joe Louis, the Brown Bomber. I believe little evidence to support one theory over the other.

Well whatever the reason, the current owners need to see if they can change the name. Brown= lackluster color= poor city image. They need a more colorful name that would change the way people perceive Cleveland. What is the most outstanding feature or attribute about Cleveland?

Only an outsider would make a comment like this. WE DON'T CARE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK ABOUT OUR TEAM COLORS. We support our team and are proud of the rich history which Paul Brown brought to this franchise. And I would take our colors any day over a team who replaced the Browns...purple and black? Seriously?
