In the short term the on-field success will depend on how Dalton's replacement plays. If he is a keeper than TCU should take a BE title sooner rather than later.
Yea. It makes good football sense for TCU. And recently at least BE could certainly use TCU. The geography is a bit weird.
I think the Big XII screwed up. They could have had TCU for the asking, but decided to stand pat with 10 teams. Now they have competition in the Dallas-Ft. Worth market.

I think TCU was hanging around waiting for the Big 12 to ask......but kinda like the prom, if the stud QB ain't going to ask, the cute snapper will do.

I liked Patterson's comment. He said the biggest hurdle to recruiting is that TCU isn't AQ, and now that's no longer a reason.
It makes sense for both parties:
TCU gets money, an auto-bid, and yes a bigger recruiting 'market'.
Meanwhile the Big East adds a team that will right away be the best team in the conference.
None the less, the big east, is still the big least.

Agreed.

This definitely helps the Big East. They lack stability. The highest ranked team they have right now is #23 West Virginia. With TCU there will be less talk of them potentially losing their AQ.
With Skip Holtz likely to stabilize and improve things at USF, Marrone turning things around at Syracuse, Strong righting the ship at Louisville, WVU fielding a generally solid if unspectacular team, and now TCU I think the BE is going to be pretty competitive for the next few years. I don't think anyone knows if TCU could sustain success if Patterson were to leave but it seems a little less likely that he would leave after joining an AQ conference. It's probably a short-sighted move on the part of the BE but short-sighted is better than blind.
I forgot to mention Wanny inevitably getting canned at the end of this year and that's got to help Pitt.

TCU's location is the only thing that does not make sense...other than that its a good move! the BIG EAST should also snatch up UCF and a few other schools...make all their basketball schools also have football to or they can not be apart of the BIG EAST anymore...TAKE THAT NOTRE DAME!
Everybody thinks the geography doesn't make sense, but they don't realize how far TCU has to travel for the MWC already. When you add in Hawaii in 2012, TCU would actually have more travel time in the MWC than they will in the Big East.
Great move for football. Horrible move for basketball. Nobody cares about basketball though.

Sad but true. Just a few months ago, when Nebraska and Colorado switched conferences, there was talk of the Big XII possibly dissolving. That would have left Kansas on an island. They've got one of the top basketball programs yet no one would want them.
I hope the BE stays @ 9 teams for football. There has been some consternation reported from Big XII coaches about 9 game conference schedules with 5 road games every other year. Big 10 coaches balked at 9 game conference schedules. I think Tressel stated Ohio State had to have 7 total home games each year to help pay for other sports.
TCU should improve in basketball with increased exposure. I think a real positive for both Men's and Women's Basketball is the difference between Eastern Standard Time mid-week road games will normally start no later than 7:00pm Central Time but Pacific Time games end after midnight Dallas time.
TCU should also dominate BE baseball.

In a nuthsell, it means TCU will no longer be labeled as a Non-AQ.
Whatever that's supposed to mean.
