Yeah I would like to compete. I'm already in good shape, I run 5 miles a day and I lift regularly. I have found an mma gym. Thanks for the advise!
If I were you I would jump straight into Muay Thai and then BJJ after about 6 months of Thai Boxing.
I wouldn't worry too much about doing another striking style before jumping into Thai Boxing. Keep in touch here and let us know how things are going, and if you have any questions about MMA technique or history, one of us here will probably know it.
One question for Clouis_39. This might seem like a dumb question but, whats the difference between muay thai and thai boxing?
heed to these guys, for they speak truth.
I don't know how it is in CA, but I guess it is the same everywhere.
When I did MMA, I started out only doing Jeet Kune Do(JKD). With time, as they also gave lessons on Submission Wrestling, Filipino Stickfighting (featuring Doce Pares Eskrima), Muay Thai Kickboxing, and MMA, I endup doing a bunch of them.
Like Jim said, start with the one you like most. then, once you get the hang of it, try out others and incorporate into your training.
If you're really going to start doing Muay Thai i suggest these Bad Boy training pads!
They're great for beginners
