NFL  > General NFL  > Ravens and Steelers! Let them play Real football.

Ravens vs. Steelers! Another great game that the NFL needs just about now! Harris and Lewis were built for this. Big Ben vs. Ed Reed. Flacco vs. Troy. Heap vs. Heath. Let's just hope the NFL will let both teams play ball and not turn this into a stylized flag football game. A player using his helmet as a spear is out. Everything else is in. There will be only one winner after this game and it's NOT the Ravens or the Steelers. It's us, the fans. Believe me, as a Ravens fan, if we loose we will get over it and just reload. I'm sure the Steelers fans feel the same way. It really is HOW you play the game that counts!
NFL should stand for football...not the National Flag League.

The devil must be shivering because Hell just froze over!!! I (a dedicated Steelers fan) actually agree with a Ravens fan!!!! These games are always hard hitting with players from both teams hurting well into the next week. This is one of the best rivalries in the NFL. I just hope the ref's dont screw this one up!!

I couldn't agree with you more Drew461. I believe that if Big Ben LOST his foot, he would hop out on the field, and still give the Raven D fits! If Ray lewis broke his collar bone, he would tape an aspirin to it and run out there and start hitting his own guys!

Ah....., to hope...., perchance to dream.....At one time, THIS was the creme' de la creme' game of the season for both teams. A chance at redemption for the team losing the first meeting and usually having a direct impact on making the playoffs for both teams. These games have usually been slobber-knockers, coming down to the last drive of the game, or even OT.

It's just too bad that Goodell has PC'd the very HEART out of the game with his meddling and tinkering.....professing to bear concerns for the health of the players, while at the same time pushing for 2 additional games/yr with additional risk of injury to these same players....all the while pushing the NFL market to Europe, with TV commercials hawking alcohol and video games exploiting physical mayhem, THAT THE REAL PLAYERS are penalized for.....all for the sake of the almighty $$$$.....what a damn shame.....

Let's hope the ref's leave their flags in the locker room and let them play.

December 2, 2010  09:03 AM ET

This is going to be a great game...let's just hope the refs don't decide the outcome because of a stupid flag on a questionable 'unecessary roughness' crap!

Let them play they way that they were taught to play the game of Football!

Well, the refs left their flags in the locker room tonight.....for sure. Ben got his nose broken on the 1st of 2 shots to the head......and NO PENALTY for either. I was AMAZED that Harrison didn't get a flag on his sack of Flacco ( let's see if he gets a FINE from Goodell ).....Heath Miller also got a cheap shot to the head that was ignored by the refs ( curiously, NFL head of officiating called the booth a short time later to say that it SHOULD HAVE been penalized )....Just another week of one-sided officiating for the Steelers.....the saga continues.......;)

Always bloody, always brutal...EXACTLY HOW FOOTBALL SHOULD BE PLAYED!! Maybe Girlie Goodell and his cronies can go lear a thing or two from this rivalry. Go try to ruin another sport jackass!

I didn't see any dirty play, just two very physical teams going tooth and nail. Great game!

Guns and Guitars: I dont presume to know what Ironman was thinking exactly, but the way i read his comments and the way i fealt is; "Hey, we dont have a problem playing physical and sometimes even bloody football, but lets be consistent with the installation and the policing of these "new safety rules" You cant throw a flag and fine James Harrison for his hit on Ryan Fitzpatrick and not do the same to Suggs for a shot to the head and breaking Ben's nose" Thats all we are saying. lets make sure we all have the same rules to the game and they enforced or not enforced in the same consistent manner.

"On an offensive foul were the whistle was blown and the play called dead, while the Ravens had the ball, the Offensive Lineman went at block James Harrison where he was punched in his left side...was not much of a blow, but the fact that you actually threw a punch, show me that you are a dirty player...I wish I could find the video of that play, before the Steelers Homers go on the attack. This game will be on NFL replay on the NFL network, and I will try to find the point of the game it happened or the youtube link."

WTF are you even talking about here? I guess you think it's fine that a QB can have his nose broken, WHILE WEARING A PROTECTIVE HELMET!!! You realize just how much force it takes to do that? And on another note, going after the helmet of a player that is falling to the the turf with his back to you after diving for a catch ( Heath Miller ) and hitting him after the ball is clearly past, I guess that's OK too.....Jeez, talk about homers.....there should be a NEW category created, maybe called the UN-HOMER, or the ANTI-HOMER, for those who irrationally accuse Steelers players/fans of just about any behavior or actions, while overlooking any and all of the same for other teams that play them..........;)
