NCAAF  > General NCAAF  > Arkansas has never beaten a Big Ten team in a bowl game

Obviously, this shows that Arkansas lacks Big Ten speed. They lack the athletes to be competitive with Ohio State and Ohio state will hang 79 points on them in a laugher.

Arky can put up some points too.

So you're thinkin maybe 79-72 in double OT?

Portland State has never beaten a Big 10 team. Just saying.

Oh...and BSU plays more OOC teams on a Blue Turf field than any team in the SEC.

Somehow makes sense compared to some recent arguments....

It's just fun satire. Note the lack of a record for Arkansas. I guess 0-3 is a little less impressive than 0-9. These streaks all end: Alabama was 0-7 all-time against Texas until last year. It is worth noting that the Arkansas secondary has made 11 interceptions, but the QB has thrown 14. In terms of total defense, Arkansas has given up more yards than Ohio State (4077 versus 3003) and almost an extra yard per play (5.1 vs. 4.2). If "defense wins championships," these are troubling numbers for the Hogs.

December 8, 2010  09:28 PM ET

On interceptions, OSU is similar, with 13 gained and 18 lost. In terms of overall turnovers, however, Arkansas is almost even, 25-23 and Ohio State has gained 29, lost 15, and surrendered only two lost fumbles all year. Protecting the ball: advantage Buckeyes.
In the trenches, Arkansas has positive margins on sacks (35-24) and tackles for loss (89-61) whereas Ohio State has negative but close margins on both (18-21 on sacks, 64-65 on TFL). Trenches: advantage Arkansas.

I'm confused...so do we need to play the game? Is Arkansas the winner or what...dam those pesky statistics

December 9, 2010  01:59 AM ET

Arkansas beat Missouri State 100-0 in 1911. They were fast as hell back then.

December 9, 2010  11:16 AM ET

I had some gangsta rapper on another thread tell me Ohio State would get 50 hung on em, even though only one team broke 30 against them all year...

December 9, 2010  01:33 PM ET

It's fun to talk smack about this all we want. Let's wait and see. Of course OSU has speed on defense. Nobody said they didn't. Arkansas will be the second currently ranked team OSU has played all year. Currently ranked. The Buckeyes lost that other one. We shall see how the Buckeyes stack up against a ranked team for the second time this year.

December 9, 2010  02:06 PM ET

I think he said currently ranked. Most stats for teams against ranked opponets use today's rankings versus the rankings at the time of the game.

Excuse me but I think Miami,Fla was #11 when they came to Columbus and Iowa was ranked #12. Both times Ohio State won.

Im with ya man, sure some teams took nose dives, but at the time they were playing Ohio State, they were top ten contenders...so it was a ranked team (technically)

Educated in Ohio I see. Again, I say currently ranked teams. With a straight face do you think Miami is #12 right now? Iowa?

Ohio State has played 1 CURRENTLY ranked team and they lost to them. Lets see how they do against a top 10 team. Hopefully it will be a good game. Can the Buckeyes overcome the gorilla and be a boastful 1-9 against the SEC or will an SEC team make the Buckeyes 0-10?

I think its two sides of the same coin in an argument like this..."at the time" is a legit point and "currently" is also a legit point. Who knew Alabama would have fallen like they did? IF Penn St. had beat a #1 Bama, would the currently argument hold, or would they get credit for beating a #1?

If The Ohio State wins, I dont see how any of us fans could be boastful of a 1-9 mark, but it would be very gratifying to beat and SEC team. I'm sure if it does happen, there will be more than a few SEC fans saying it was only Arkansas, not one of the "elite" SEC teams...
