MMA  > General MMA  > GSP - Sorry for not knocking Kos out....
December 12, 2010, 12:45 PM
...anyone believe in him?

I don't.
If anything, he played his usual game. Secure, goes to what works.

GSP is great. Let me takje this out of the way from the start.

But I don't think he was trying to KO Kos.
If anything, he was doing on the last rounds exactly what he did on the first round.
And that was when Kos had one eye shut and was disheartened.

GSP became one hell of a boring fighter.
Not much because he is does nothing. but because he sticks to his game-plan from the first to the last minute. he does not change things up, he does not get excited at the smell of the blood and he does not take any chances.

He may dominate this division for the foreseeable future.
but I don't think he'll have any exciting fight unless he takes on a challenge (like going up and facing Silva). And that he is unwilling to do.

Like anything else, he plays that the secure way too...

He played it safe, I agree.

If anything, he was trying to play it even safer, with those takedown attempts.

Has those failed he put up a high guard and jabbed his way through.

But I don't think the fight was as bad as some of his previous title defenses.

On the other hand, I was expecting the most boring fight "ever", yesterday.

Gonna be pretty hard to ever top Kimo vs. Severn on that front.

Mark on your calendar.
Shields x GSP.
THAT will be the fight to beat them all! (as the most boring ever!)

Nope. at least not if he wins.
There are talks of an UFC in Brazil, and the winner is already scheduled to fight in the event's main show.

Shields will prob get ko since GSP will be the more technical fighter.

Don't agree.
If Hendo's big right didn't end Shields, sissy jabs won't either.

This will be a ground fight (because shields will make sure of it). Whoever dominates will win the fight. and Shields is better pressuring on the ground than GSP.

Amazingly enough, I see GSP winning by TD defense and jabbing... kind of same gameplan than against Kos. The difference is that Shields will try to take it down where Kos was trying to stand with GSP.
