I think the champ game, trophies, awards names are a little cheesy...

that's what I thought.
give 'em points for trying to be creative. take 'em all back and then some on the end results.

Pretty weak names. Should have been Bo and Woody IMO. The divisions are well thought out though. I honestly don't know which is the tougher one.
Will continue to campaign for a rename to TCUN or the Iron Brigade (either works better than calling it the B10 with 12 teams when there is a B12 with 10 teams).
I understand the branding side of wanting to keep "The Big Ten" because of the marketing and name recognition, but fail to see the advantage of sticking with it.
In every business and internet strategy meeting I am in, we talk about flexibility and an acceptance of the fact that change is inevitable. You can embrace it, learn from it, and succeed or hold onto the past and fail...

but what are their options? they can't call it the Big 12. they did a pretty bad job of picking names for the divisions. at this point in time, you think of "Big 10" like "SEC". big 10 means Michigan, Ohio St., Wisconsin, etc. and that's what you want. I think down the road a few years they might be able to change the name but for now they have to stay with Big 10.

I think they could have done better with the names than what they did. They wanted to stay away from colors and players/coaches becasue people may have issues with them but then they use them for the trophies? Also interesting that they named one trophy after Paterno with him still coaching. I wonder how many times it has been possible for someone to win the trophy named after them?

Yeah its a rough decision, I would love to be in their marketing and strategy meeting, and work on their forecasts and timelines..that would be sweet!

Is it just me, or do these look like my 11 year old cousin designed them? And the Legends and Leaders divisions?! Seriously? What do other Big Ten folks out there think?
I love the Big Ten. I love my alma mater.
I am surprised and disappointed in what I see as a missed opportunity towards strengthening the public face of the Big Ten brand.
With everything positive that has occurred over the past few years (Big Ten Network, adding Nebraska and a championship game), I view this new logo and these division names as an embarassing step backward.
It doesn't present the polished image that our league has in almost every other area.
I guess they can't all be great ideas. Legends and Leaders seems too generic to be taken seriously. The official comment was that these names were an attempt to bring to mind the powerful history and tradition our league enjoys. IMO, they fail in that regard...again because they're generic.
Every league has legends and leaders. It's not unique nor referential to the actual history of the Big Ten. It misses the target.
I won't comment on the logo; except to say I hope it is merely a placeholder for the real and professional logo all of us are expecting. Maybe they're waiting until they finish expansion at 14 or 16 teams before the finalize a more permanent logo.
Go Jimmy D, go!

I like the Missouri still can't join conference. Poor Mizzou. They always get the short end of the stick.

Just like TBDBITL at Ohio State.
Big Ten can become WTOTIBTYC...
Maybe not.
QUOTE(#11):
but what are their options?
Until Nebraska was solidified as the addition, I was all for "The Great Lakes Conference" because the only state without a border on one of the lakes was Iowa. Now I'm not so sure...
With the logo, I've seen several people comment about leaving it the same (rather than reading it as eleven, reading it as 1 and 1). Others have suggested that their "zero" looks more like a "six", leaving it open for four more additions...
Whatever the case, that amateurish abomination has to go...

On second thought, maybe keep the Big Ten as the conference name and those should be the divisions: Great Lakes and Heartland...
Then again, with the jacked up alignment, that doesn't work either...

I thought the same, B-i-G, but was afraid I'd get jumped all over if I said that. The logo sux as do the names. Oh well. BTW, for a second, I thought it said 11 year old son, my heart skipped a beat :)
