NFL  > Seattle Seahawks  > An open letter to all Seattle sports fans.

Hey Seattle fans,

We all know we are going through a rough year up here in the Emerald City. Our Mariners lost more than a 100 games, the Sonics are gone, the Huskies went 0-fer, even our beloved Seahawks had a crap year. Despite all the struggles and losses, I as a life long Seattle fan, implore you all to not give up hope. We need to stick by our teams now more than ever. Show the Seahawks next week in their last home game that they are our team and no matter what, we bleed blue and green. Show Coach Holmgren how much we appreciated the last ten years he gave us, and that we love him for the heights he brought our team. Don't let this sports hell discourage you. Seattle sports will rise again. We will be back in the Super Bowl, the Mariners will once again return to greatness, the Huskies will be a college powerhouse again, the NBA will....ah..who am I kidding with that one...but you get my point.

This is so very true. For the last 30 years I've never given up and I always fight for the respect that our Seattle Seahawks and State of Washington deserve. I've been there when we were down and I've been there when we are up. To really appriciate the good everyone needs a little bad. Not this much bad but, we Washatonians are a STRONG and FAITHFULL group of people. Thanks coach for everything and if you do return come back to us atleast to the front office.

I dont pay much attention to UW or WSU, and never was a Basketball fan.
HOWEVER!
I think the M's are going to have a great 09 season. I think the new GM, cant spell his name, is doing a valient and honest effort to put a winning team and staff together.
The Seahawks, I think will bounce back next year. Just too many injuries to early this year, really crippled the team. Im hoping Mora was the right choice, still dont think it was a good idea to commit a whole year out to a guy, should have waited to see who was in the market this off season.
I do like the Dogs new head coach though, USC is obvioulsy doing something right so why not pick from their staff.

I'll say it again. When holmgren was ignoring the hawks because he was more interested in his vacation and he let Hutchinson get away we should have fired him on the spot. Not only did he ruin Alexanders career he ruined the Hawks. I thank GOD he's gone it should have happened a long time ago. He's the book that's been read too many times, you already know the play before it's called, game over. He needs to stay in the office with the rest of the hasbeens and wannabe's. He has no balls for the game. Mora on the other hand will be tough. He will be good for our guys to get their butts up to playing some real HARD NOSED football. Pittsburg has proven defense wins superbowls. It's time to build our lines both of them. you can't win without a defense that kicks butt or an offense that can't hold the line how else can you throw or run. with a **** offense. Mora not the **** that Holmgren has been for years

Let me guess.....you are one of those classless idiots who booed Alexander the last two years?

What does he have to do? The man took us to the damned Superbowl, and lead the Seahawks to an unprecidented 4 years in a row. Name one other Seattle Seahawks coach to come close to doing that. You can't. Mike Holmgren was the best thing to happen to Seahawk football.

February 19, 2009  09:37 PM ET

btp2k2. You can guess all you want because your not smart enough to know anything. I feel Alexander was ripped off. I never booed him still don't boo him.Holmgren ripped him off by letting Hutchinson get away. He himself said it was his fault & it was Russkalls also stupid idiots. Even more - was he able to fix or replace him not even close, smart coaches would have came up with a plan. Holmgren can build a team he just can't coach one (maybe build a team)?. Your probably not old enough or have enough brains to see that Holmgren as a coach is a hasbeen he's to old school. I can name coaches that had way better runs than his they just never coached for the Seahawks (bummer). HE's a wimp and our team became what their coach is wimpy. Watch the Hawks will grow some balls now that Mora has the field. I never said he wasn't a great coach at one time, he taught half the coaches in the game right now. That 's what makes his downfall everybody knows his game inside and out, being one of the biggest Hawks fans around I'm glad he is gone if you had any brains you would be to. GO MORA & HIS HAWKS

btp2k2, Alexander was a result of a crazy good offensive line. I booed Alexander when I saw him curl up in the fetal position time in time again

jerryjones, I think btp2k2 is hiding his head where the sun don't shine after his comments. I've read some of his other comments the guys an idiot

"When holmgren was ignoring the hawks because he was more interested in his vacation and he let Hutchinson get away we should have fired him on the spot"

emar..the Hutch deal wasn't Holmgren's call. It was Ruskell's idea to Transition Tag Hutch. Plus, there was a reason they didn't franchise him..here is the link, http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/seahawks/2002865684_hawk15.html

Holmgren wasn't the GM when Hutchinson was a FA. If Minnesota doesn't put the poison pill in the contract, he is still a Seahawk because the team could have match any offer. Get off Holmgren for that. Was he the best GM in the league? No. But this team also drafted quite a few impact players under his watch including both Shaun Alexander and Steve Hutchinson.

March 18, 2009  12:31 AM ET

I'm just waiting for Jim Mora jr first press conference when someone asks him about going to the playoffs..." Playoffs? pl-Playoff, are you kidding me...Playoffs?

March 18, 2009  09:41 AM ET

tp10super, I watched an interview with Holmgren after the Hutch. deal so pay attention Holmgren himself said he made a mistake leaving on vacation before the deal was done...... Yes it was also Ruskell's fault to. (UNDER HIS WATCH) your words exactly don't blame him for the bad things but give him credit for the good. YOU Holmgren lovers need to stop humping his leg, like I said at one time he was awsome but that was years ago. His time is over. Thank God, so pull your head out of his butt ....

March 18, 2009  08:33 PM ET

GM or head coach so you think only the GM has a say in who a team keeps or gets rid of ? Coach Holmgren has no say in who his team keeps or gets rid of then you just proved what an idiot you are really your stupid. Holmgren himself said he thought they had Hutch locked up when he left on vacation For one thats not the time for a coach to take off thats one of the most important times of the season, if he would have stayed and done his job Hutch would still be here that poison pill as you put it was nothing 1 penny more would have kept him !! Look at what we paid for Burleson ,so shut your faces and face the facts Holmgren did not have his heart in the hawks anymore. SO GET OFF IT DUMMY

June 10, 2009  09:39 PM ET

EMAR you are an idiot.

June 10, 2009  09:46 PM ET

Hey Emar, ever hear of Joe Montana, Steve Young, Brett Farve? All Homgren credits. If he's such a bad coach, how in the hell did he get all those wins as a head coach? Can you say Hall of Fame bound? You wouldn't know a great coach if he hit you in the face.

Seattle fans are loyal fans, its not about being on the bandwagon, its about being a fan of teams fun to watch, even with the mariners out of contention watching ichiro, griffey and felix is fun, they are above 500 and truly a better team, the seahawks SHUT OUT the rams, they proved this division is theirs, every city has their time and it will be seattles again.
