NFL  > Pittsburgh Steelers  > Refs 0-for-Season on Head Shots to Big Ben
December 13, 2010, 11:29 PM
After watching the Bengals game this week, once again it's obvious that the NFL officials have a "don't look, don't tell" policy on protecting at least ONE NFL QB....
Can anybody guess how many Roughing-the-Passer or Illegal-Blow-to-the-Head penalties Roethlisberger has drawn this season? Clue: less than Brady or Mannning have had in one game........But I won't use the "C"-word, as I'll be accused of being a resident of Roswell, NV or something like that.......

Oh...I thought you knew about the email and attachment the NFL sent to all the officials...

Subject: Do you want this man near your Daughter?

Attached was a picture of Ben...

Seriously, I have been watching the Steelers games and I can see what you are talking about... I can just say... Bummer!

Dallas has played in eight Super Bowls and has been penalized more then their opponents in every game? Dallas has played in back to back Super Bowls without one penalty called on their opponent? 71 vs the Dolphins and 75 vs the Steelers? What team has been penalized the most in a Super Bowl? Dallas with 133 in SB V. How on earth do you get penalized over 100 yards more then your opponent in a Super Bowl like Dallas vs the Colts in SB V!? lol

Is this new the new crying thread...

lol you are complaining about officiating after your last two Super Bowls? Lets be real, that Harrison return vs Arizona could've been easily called down at the 1 inch line and time expired for half? Instead you get handed the game. Dallas never gets that call.

Because folks without clue one throw karma out there like it's always a negative thing. Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't. These same folks can't appreciate the irony of blaming poor officiating on karma. You know, that kind that bites these people right square in the arse for continuing to spread lies and misinformation and insinuations about, oh, I don't know, maybe a certain NFL quarterback. THAT kind of karma.

Beautifully said my friend.

True, the Steelers weren't penalized in SB 10, BUT the Cowboys were only penalized twice for 20 yards. Let's not pretend they had to overcome great odds.

How about in Super Bowl 9 when the Steelers were penalized 8 times for 122 yards to Minnesota's 4 for 18 yards? Champions overcome that type of **** Junior!

December 14, 2010  06:10 PM ET

Any body that watches their team, sees things that nobody else does, including me. I could count at least fifteen times that Jay Cutler was hit in the head, or his face mask yanked on etc..
I could also count that 5476 holding penalties that were committed against Julius Peppers and not called. I could count the TD the refs missed against the Redskins.

So I could cherry pick through the entire season, and find plays that the refs messed up and say we were robbed...but in defense of the refs, they get more right than they do wrong, and sitting here crying about it is not going to change anything. If you play well enough, the refs can not stop you from winning. The Bears should have as many losses as they have, because that is how they played...period

ATF/Deuce: REALLY? so you're comparing ANCIENT HISTORY stats from the C'boys cobwebbed past and very subjective observations about Chicago's season, to the FACT that Roethlisberger got his FREAKIN' NOSE SHATTERED by one of many head blows he's received this season, without a single flag being thrown? Deuce, aren't you one of the BIG James Harrison bandwagon beraters that cry "dirty play" incessantly? I suppose that all Harrison's penalties/fines, none of which were for illegal hit to the head, are OK....but somehow, Ben's nose was broken in the absence of any illegal blow to the head????

With all the hoopla this year surrounding concussions and head injuries by the NFL, I find it HYPOCRITICAL and downright CRIMINAL that almost EVERY GAME, Roethlisberger takes several shots to the head and very late hits regardless, and the zebras turn a blind eye to it.

When Romo or Cutler need reconstructive surgery following a game to repair THEIR broken nose, then you can add your two cents....until then, SHUT YOUR FREAKIN PIE-HOLES

Coming from the #1 crying Steeler fan in the world this is hilarious.

Jay Cutler was hit, helmet to helmet by a N.Y. Giant and missed a week, with a concussion...
The hit was so blatant, that the orange foam speakers that QB's wear came through the left ear hole, no penalty, no fine...Your pervert QB has not missed a down, a penalty was called on that play, and the player was fined...so ****, and crawl your crying ass back to your crying blanket.

As far as Harrison he is stupid...If the police tell you the Speed limit is 35, and you constantly get caught going 37, you just need to pay your fines for your blatant stupidity. Do they need to suspend him for him to understand...the rest of the league is adapting, why can't he...cause he has shown that he does not care.

Or are you still fretting from the total a-s-s-r-a-p-i-n-g of your team by the Pats?

December 15, 2010  11:47 AM ET

Do Steelers fans really think the NFL is "out to get them" this season? Just curious because I have gotten this impression multiple times now.

Mind your own business, boy...lol
When someone calls you out, you put them in their place with facts...

Are you another one of the Homer crying Steeler fans too, that believes their is a conspiracy out against the Steelers...lol...

Any way their are a ton of great Steeler fans here who do not cry at all, and take everything in stride unlike like you and the crying Steelers couple. I am positive she will join this thread soon.

And yeah the Bears got blowed out and I have said so that they have over and over...SO WHAT it counts as one loss.

Does that change the fact that you and the crying Steelers couple are never going to shutup from that sissy crying...The Steelers have had more gifts and bad calls go their way more than any team in the NFL this season.

1. The Dolphins gift from the Refs who hate you (Ref was from Pittsburgh who made call)
2. The Bills gift from Stevie Johnson

So until your team is a power house, and the Pats don't blow you out under ideal conditions...

YOU SHUTUP AND TAKE A CHILL PILL

And I guess you can call me a sissy and whiner, too, because I think there is most definitely a different standard in place for Tom Terrific and Peyton Manning. Being as neutral as I can be, I counted two shots to Roethlisbeger's head in last Sunday's game (one was a facemask penalty as well) and a VERY generous two late shots--one of which involved a player taking a full stride after the ball was released and driving Roethlisberger to the ground. For God's sake, Harrison got flagged for landing on a guy he tackled a couple of weeks back. These are facts. I could easily make the case for two more shots Roethlisberger took that have generated flags in other situations.

I think that is fine. To not think there is a double standard seems a little naive. However at times it has seemed like some Steeler fans.....and players want to turn this into a conspiracy the NFL is perpetrating on them. And THAT I don't buy.

December 15, 2010  04:30 PM ET

Roethlisberger likes to take shots, he hangs on to the ball forever. So what do you want? When they rush him, and he is scampering like that girl he had in the washroom..don't hit him? Many of these QB like Big Ben, Vick and Rogers think they can make defenses look foolish. They will get hit running with the ball. Why don't Steelers put Ben on IR? His foot is injured, and nose, he had a concussion riding a bike without a helmet and drunk. Steelers fans don't care for safety of their players. You can't have it both ways. Go ask H wards, long hair TP and your guy James Harrison.

Oh come on, Duece. Really. Do you REALLY think that the referee was the one who blew this call? He had to sort out a series of bad decisions by the other officials and did the best he could...by the book. Do you actually think even for a second that where he is from had anything to do with this cluster****?? Sure, I think it was a lousy situation and the Dolphins got jobbed. What the hell has any of that got to do with Gene Steratore's home town? And I guess you can call me a sissy and whiner, too, because I think there is most definitely a different standard in place for Tom Terrific and Peyton Manning. Mr. Straw, no I do not consider you one of the blatant crying Steeler fans. Their are two, and everybody knows who they are. Every thread is crying about this Steeler call or that one, it is just old. The one thing you will hear me say over and over one thing, and I will say it again, I want Ted Phillips, Jerry Angelo, and Lovie Smith gone yesterday, I do not care if they win the Super Bowl, they still have to go. This is what most Bears fans have ask for about two years to happen.

The fact the you agree that the Dolphins got screwed proved that you are not a homer, it does not change the facts as I have said all along...

I do not follow the Steelers closely, but every hit that the NFL has fined a Steeler for was a questionable hit. I could make a case for a lot of calls that the refs missed concerning the Bears, but I am not going to sit here and cry about it day after day after day. What will it change...nothing.

As far as James Harrison, when they are watching you as closely as he is being watched, you need to make the adjustments that every other player in the NFL has...Or he can keep paying fines.

But if he keeps it up, somebody is going to take out one of his knees, like they used to do back in the day on perceived dirty players, a team with no playoff hopes would not care if a player missed a game cause they took a cheap shot at him. I like James Harrison, and wish he was a Bear, but he would have to make the same adjustments that everybody else in the league has had too.
