NCAAF  > General NCAAF  > You want a college football playoff? The fans can make this happen easily
December 22, 2010, 10:30 AM
We the fans control what the NCAA does concerning a Division 1 football playoff??? we???re doing it already. We watch on TV, they make big bucks from TV contracts. We attend games., they make money from ticket sales, parking and concessions. We buy t-Shirts and ball caps, they make money on the merchandise sales. Let???s face it??? college football is big time business and it???s mainly about making money. If we want a playoff system, all we have to do is get the NCAA???s attention where it counts??? in their wallet.

All the fans who buy magnets and flags for their cars or t-shirts and ball caps to show team support can force the NCAA into football playoff if they wish. All they have to do is stop buying NCAA licensed merchandise. NCAA licensed merchandise sales top $4 billion annually, a sizable chunk of change. A nation-wide boycott will get the attention of the NCAA very quickly.

Fans can still attend games, still watch on TV and still support their teams. Just stop buys flags, key chains, ear rings necklaces and all the other stuff with teams logos.

Pass this around to anyone you know who wants a playoff system??? if a boycott gains momentum, we???ll get a playoff in 1-2 years guaranteed.

Sincerely,
Bill Harlan

Ummm no, in the case of the big ten network, it is owned by fox and could operate for years without fan support.

It's bigger than a boycott. Nice thought, but you have to think there are some people out there that dont want a playoff...

Why is it assumed that all CFB fans want a playoff? I actually liked the pre-BCS system quite a bit, and I don't hate the BCS like the talking heads do. In fact, just to spite you, I'm going to spend $900 on CFB merchandise right now...anyone got Cam's number?

Has one of these nationwide boycotts ever actually happened? I know I never stopped buying gas on odd days.

Exactly,, boycotts use to be a powerful tool back when Unions were strong here in America, nowadays American consumers have no problem buying all their products from Communist run Countries that use slave labor, which has killed the working American middle class.

Modern day Americans have been completely dumbed up by the powers dhat be,, its all over.
But please, keep Fight'in the power.

I could never boycott. I love it too much. I missed a lot of this season because of school. It was very depressing.

I believe he is just asking everyone to boycott NCAA merchandise. Like i said, its nearly impossible to organize the young people to fight for whats right anymore, history has been wiped clean.
