Not a beatles fan at all. Merry and Safe Christmas to you and Yours Van.
Trying to figure out/understand/justify the actions of the NCAA is a losing battle.

I wonder if the fans could somehow petition the govt. to investigate the NCAA
180k = 1 day suspension SEC team
Battery = 1/2 game SEC team
Home & car & cash = 30 scholarships 3 year bowl ban value ? Pac 10 team
sell 1.2k of personal property = 5 games B10 team
No wonder all those great Ohio coaches went to SEC
The govt split AT&T and many others maybe the NCAA needs to be split up
Ya know the more this story comes out, the more one can see that Mr Ice has a legit grrripe !!

As recently as last December the popular opinion was that USC would never be sanctioned over Bush because they were the NCAA's darling/cash cow. Just a year later the Trojans are looking like the NCAA's whipping boy.
GR is right. Trying to figure out the NCAA's moves will make your head hurt.
The NCAA is looking more and more corrupt every day.
I guess when you're your own self-governing body you can do whatever the hell you want.

The NCAA is like a Vampire-would fall apart in direct sunlight.

I think he was going for a John boy and Billy skit.
Mr Ice had a legitimate gripe as soon as Cam Newton got reinstated. Now he's got an even more legitimate reason to be ticked off. Even the most neutral or pro-NCAA person has to be scratching his head right now and wondering what they're thinking. As a Notre Dame fan I can take no satisfaction in USC being beaten down by the system if that same system is giving the appearance of total and blatant favoritism and discrimination in regards to other schools/conferences, which, at the moment, appears to be the case.
QUOTE:
I understand Ice's point but I don't like the angle.Just because somebody else broke rules and didn't get punished (yet) is a poor way to justify the sanctions at USC. As far as "blatant discrimination" by the NCAA, don't break the rules and then you won't have to worry about being "discriminated".
A very good point. However, let it be said that ALL schools that break similar rules should be punished in similar ways. The NCAA has a rulebook that's thicker than the Holy Bible, but yet they can't seem to come to a consensus on punishing teams for similar violations. USC broke the rules, that can't be questioned. But the way the NCAA treats each individual case, it looks like favoritism.

Norka...you feeling OK? Seems every post I have read of yours is a bit angry????
So you don't like Mark May? Okey Dokey.
Seems interesting that when AJ Green was caught selling a jersey he was punished IMMEDIATELY....wasn't any play in a game first and then we'll start the suspension next year....same for Alabama when selling the books....but TP and tOSU gets to play in an "important bowl game" first. But then I would guess that rule would fit with the ruling for Cam Newton....am thinking that both rules will be changed next year.
Is there any way at all to pay the players? I read Ohio st blamed their players bad behavior on the current Depression the Country is in. What if somehow all the players of say for example the SEC went on strike? After all there are a lot of baby Mama's out their needing gas for the SUV and milk/diapers.
I say no,, they are student athletes, but that sure is a huge amount of money they ALL produce for some VERY fat cats.

Auburn is #3 on the all-time NCAA major infractions list ... right behind #2 SMU. Georgia is #11. There are plenty of Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac 10 schools on the list too but I can't find an update to the list since 2008.
Apparently there are 55 schools on the NCAA's "repeat violators" list (schools that get in trouble more than once every five years). I've searched but can't find the list. I read on CBS Sports website that Alabama won't get off the repeat violators list until the year 2014.
But, yeah, the NCAA is just picking on the SEC aren't they Mark?
Maybe if the NCAA had more transparency we fans wouldn't be so cynical and big dumb linemen wouldn't be able to get away with making such unfounded allegations on ESPN.
