NCAAF  > General NCAAF  > Terrel Pryors' NFL audition
December 27, 2010, 08:21 PM
This former Buckeye thinks Pryor is gone after the Sugar Bowl. He will not accept a 5 game suspension next year and will leave school early without the award he coveted the most the Heisman trophy. This Sugar Bowl will be his final college game and his professional future will be riding on it. My guess is since this game will be all about Pryor we will finally see the big game performance that we have waited 3 years for.

Who will the replacement QB be in 2011 then?

December 27, 2010  09:54 PM ET

The only way its an NFL audition is if Tressel lines Pryor up at wide reciever for the game because he wont be a QB at the next level.

Yeah, Tyrelle and Cam will be 2 of the worst blockers to ever play H-Back in the NFL ...

Braxton Miller. He should be what everyone thought Pryor would be.

Then Tressel should start him for the game and sit TP.

would that show integrity if Tressel sits the Sell My Awards 5?

Tressel will be good just to get them outta the school. Get them to the pros where they wanted to be anyway.

TP never directly said he wanted to Heisman, matter of act all he has ever said is that he wants to win. I think most of them will go pro, for whatever they can, but I cant sit here and bemoan the actions of some uneducated 18 year olds with god like complexes. Spare me the, scholarship babble and in the old days speeches...its a different world, I think they were wrong. I wont argue that, but for as much revenue as #2 created for this university the kids should get a cut. Tell me Im wrong, I dont care, try to argrue that with me, I wont change my outlook.

Fair enough...perhaps there should be some sort of revenue (placed in annuity or trust) shared with the players; porportionate to the revenue their jerseys etc generate.

My issue is still that these kids just demonstrated that they do not really care about the school or even the curent team as much as any of their teammates has a right to expect of them (leave us fans out of it, we don't practice or sacrifice to prepare alongside them, so we don't get much say in this).

They could be playing ball anywhere, as far as their concerned. They're only at tOSU because they all thought it was their best stepping stone, developmental stage for getting to the ultimate goal of professional football. I have no qualms with selecting a university that best positions you for the career you desire.

But, at least feign respect for the school until after you've completed your time here. At the very least, a scholarship is a business transaction between student and university. You need to honor that commitment no matter which side of it you're on.

As far as TP goes, I'll keep on rooting for the Buckeye's and for Tressel do do the right things and to be successful. But, as of now, I'm only pulling for him as an older guy hoping the younger guy gets his head out of his rear before it does permanent damage to his future.

I don't agree about players getting paid, but I do think people are being a little harsh on TP and the others. They made a mistake. I'm glad they're playing in the Sugar Bowl. The bowl games aren't just rewards for the players but for the fans too. It would be punishing the fans and the players of Arkansas if they weren't allowed to play.

If you really want to force the universities to monitor this stuff more closely, I say reduce the suspensions to 2 or 3 games but make them Big 10 games. Most schools play for their conference championships and every thing else is gravy.

The problem with paying players is it would kill parity, not that there's much parity, but the larger, more historically successful programs would increase the advantage tenfold. Perhaps you could give stipends that are equal for all athletes, however, there are hundreds of universities that couldn't afford to do this. Also, there are probably lot's of tax issues which I'm sure the NCAA members would like to avoid. I think it's more likely that will get a playoff after this BCS contract is up then the players will ever receive funds of any sort.

Ohio State has more players in the NFL than most other college teams I could look for the exact numbers but I think its Ohio State, USC and Texas all around 50 current players I believe.

I think its one of those things where when you leave and look back at your time with more respect and honor for tradition than when you are actually there. I know you get it when you are there, but the magnitude and the pride grows over time.

This is one of the problems we are all having with the athletes today. Just because #2 brought in some revenue, lets cut him some slack. He did wrong, but don't punish him because he is special.

Give me a break 84....that is the worst thing we can do. Man does wrong, man pays...regardless of who he is.

Not going to argue with you as it would be pointless...you seem to be one who thinks that certain people deserve special favors because they are athletes....

December 28, 2010  01:59 PM ET

NO not at all I think that if you do the crime you do the time. At no point should he be cut slack if he broke the rules which he did.

I think that my thoughts spilled into another area where I think college athletes should get a share od what they bring in. #2 was just an example.

Dont tell me what I seem to be you havent talked to me, you dont know all of my thoughts, feeelings, and experiences in this arena. If you would like to talk more about it, I am open to it, but dont assume I think they should be cut some slack because of who they are.
