andrew lawrence should not be able to call himself a tennis expert. he is a complete moron. how can you select andy roddick as your candidate for mental toughness in the men's game? did lawrence happen to catch the 2nd set tiebreak of the 2009 wimbledon final? yea that was a GREAT display of mental toughness on the big stage. roddick's tirades with the umpires and linesmen is also a great display of mental toughness especially when he drags those on for 3-4 games. roddick really is the epitome of mental toughness and his grand slam total and record against federer tells that tell as well. calling roddick the candidate for mental toughness in the men's game is like saying that novak djokovic is the fittest player on tour (because he never withdraws from matches or breathes hard). andrew lawrence should not be allowed to provide his "expert" opinion on tennis, he is a moron.

Fantasy Tennis - My thoughts
Mens
Serve - Roddick and Karlovic just beat out by Isner based on 2010.
Return Game - Murray does more with the 2nd serve, but no one gets back more returns than Ferrer.
Forehand - Gonzalez, Blake and Haas would have been mentioned in former years. And Federer and Nadal both have world class forehands that belong to champions. But it comes down to Soderling and del Potro. When they are on, del Potro's is a weapon on any service, not just clay like Soderling. del Potro hits it harder and deeper to take claim to the best forehand.
Backhand - Gasquet's is the most beautiful to watch, but it could be more penetrating. In terms of one handers, Wawrinka's probably gets the job done better than Gasquet. On the two hander side, Berdych, Nadal, Djokovic and Nalbandian all are world class. My vote still goes to Nalbandian in a sqeaker over Novak. It Nalbandian only had to hit backhands, he would be back in the top 3 for a few more years.
Net Play - Come on, doubles players do not count. Right now it is a race between Llodra and Fish. A nod to the frenchman who comes in more and is much less predictable.
Fitness - Davydenko when not injured can play match after match, day after day, week after week and never tire - not something Ferrer can say if you consider what happened to him at the French.
Footwork - He glides like he is walking on water. And who can hit a winner through the legs not one but two times - oops, now make it 3 times!
Mental Toughness - Nadal's mental toughness is legendary.

Women
Serve - Groth, Venus and Petrova can all pound and clock serve, but this is really a 2 woman race between Stosur and Serena. Both equally strong on the 1st and 2nd serve, with Serena going in a different strength, the nod goes to Sam.
Return Game - Jankovic probably gets more returns back than any woman on the tour so it hurts to not go with consistency, but who looks down the barrel of a 2nd serve with more intimidation than Venus, so the American wins on the scare factor.
Forehand - When Stosur camps out on the backhand corner hitting forehands, winners rip cross court inside out and down the line making it the best forehand from that side of the court. But in terms of all court hitting, Clijsters can clock forehand winners better from anywhere giving her the title of 2nd best forehand in the history of women's tennis - no one takes the history crown from Steffi.
Backhand - Henin's is the most beautiful to look at, Venus clocks hers, Schiavone's one hander is a close 2nd to Henin's signature shot, and then there is Jankovic with that awesome down the line redirect. But come on experts, not one of you mentioned Azarenka. No one hits a harder, deeper backhand - look back at the 1st set French Open quarters against Safina - the most damaging backhand in the game hands down.
Net play - Schiavone with her 15 or so forerays into the net a match, always at the most opportune time with the touch of a McEnroe steals the crown and the French Open of 2010.
Fitness - Caroline for 2 years plays week in and week out and never seems tired.
Footwork - no one goes from defense to offense in the women's game like Henin. Her speed and preparation are top of the class.
Mental toughness - Serena is the queen currently and in a league of her own. But like Henin took that title from her in 2007 with 3 grand slam quarter wins, someone else is lerking - till it happens my money is still on Serena.

The women's tour will have 4 different players winning a major.. Azarenka will be one of them..Nadal will win 3 in a row..Del Potro's return willbe a damp squib (too bad..)

All 4 ? He will be pressed to win 1 in 2011. Federer is no where near as dominant as he once was. Nadal and Djokovic will be the odds on favorites to win the slams. Roger is one of if the the greatest of all time but his time and come and he is now human.

...and as we have seen so far, not too many predictions have formed out so far in May of 2k11, Australian Open Champion Mr. Novak Djokovic+still un-beaten @ the time of this writing/comment. My French Open Winner will be...wait for it...Mr. Raphael "RAFA" Nadal, with a possible spoil by one Mr. Novak Djokovic. My Wimbledon Champion Winner, wait for it again...Mr. Raphael 'RAFA" Nadal, and once again with a possible spoil by one Mr. Novak Djokovic. My Final Winner as for the U.S. Open...wait for it...Mr. Novak Djokovic. As for the WTA, I Will go out on the proverbial limb here, as nothing is clear about the WTA so far in 2011, yet so far the Australian Open was won by Ms. Kim Clijsters, as for the French Open Championship, I see a reversal of fortune for either Ms. Samantha Stosur, or Ms. Kim Clijsters, with a possible spoiler being Ms. Victoria Azarenka. and as for the biggie Wimbledon, I think it Will/Maybe another All Williams Final I Hope. and as for the U.S., the U.S Open is so totally unclear @ this time, but I will take another "leap of faith" so to speak, Ms. Serena Williams, or another reversal of fortune for this time, Ms. Venus Williams. by k.kuba a. bennu the/a DARK BENNU!

Oh! Did I forget to mention that Juan Martin Delpotro is starting too look very Sharp again,well maybe we will see what we can see as far as he is concerned. Ms. Vicktoria Azarenka is really looking like a Potential Major-Winner, and sooner rather than later. I am just gonna keep an Open-Mind really about this Whole Season in Tennis, despite my earlier prediction/s, so we will see what it is that we will see in total. fin

... & another thing... I do also Predict that One Day eventually, CHINA Will be the Official site of the Fifth Legitimate Major for both the ATP & WTA Professional League/s. fin

It's hilarious to look back see what people thought at the start of the year. Does anyone still think we'll look back on 2011 and consider Nadal "Player of the Year"? Nadal is soooo 2010.

Sooo maybe Ms. Maria Maria Sharapova still has a Major in her, but we will see, the French Open Championships of 2011 may produce her best chances for another Major as well as completing her career Grand Slam. Anyway Novak "Djoker" Djokovic is doing something truly remarkable so far this year, yet can he finish what he has started, is a possible run at the True Grand Slam truly possible for this one, we will see wont we, yes I think we shall so.
