Let the coaching rumors begin!
January 4, 2011  04:05 PM ET

In order of guess:

1. Harbaugh
2. Hoke
3. Someone that will shock us all.
4. Miles ^^

1. Hoke

I think there was a bridge burnt with Harbough...

January 4, 2011  04:19 PM ET

While I think UM would love to get Harbaugh, but I doubt he will leave Stanford for that gig.

Much easier to maintain his current success than it is to build it from scratch a second time. Even with the addition of Utah, winning the Pac12 will be easier than winning the Big10(12), especially with USC in the dumps for the next few years.

He would be inheriting a team built for the spread with a lousy defense. Not his kind of players.

The only real downside to Stanford is the relative lack of fan support.

I just read a link on ESPN that someone with the Detroit Free Press has a source that says it's "highly unlikely" that Harbaugh would take the job if it was offered. I know I'm referencing a source through six degrees of separation but if it's true, Harbaugh's going to the NFL. If he wasn't leaving Stanford, he would have said so.

A lot of people think Hoke will replace Harbaugh but I think he's a perfect fit for Michigan. He plays the style of football they want and he'll be a great recruiter right out of the gate.

I've heard other people say the same thing but as long as the AD is willing to give him a couple of years, I don't see that from preventing Harbaugh leaving Stanford. If it's not Michigan, it will be the pro's. Either way, I'll be surprised if he stays at Stanford.

Harbaugh will not go to Michigan. If he leaves its going to be for the NFL.

January 4, 2011  04:35 PM ET

Miles baby... Miles to Michigan.

January 4, 2011  04:57 PM ET

God AL dodged a bullet when he turned us down.

January 4, 2011  05:05 PM ET

Holtz is an idiot. He's saying it's a mistake to fire Rich Rod if they can't get Harbaugh. They know they want to change, do it now even if Harbaugh turns you down.

As much as I would have liked that, it's better for everyone that he said no. He'll end up like Terry Bowden and be a FCS coach or Div II.

I'm probably wrong about this.

Miles to Michigan.
Rich Rod to Pitt.
Malzahn to LSU.
Harbaugh stay put.

Interesting. I want to say that Malzahn wouldn't take the LSU job but that's probably just my bias. That said, I really don't think Miles is leaving.

Mark May just pleaded with Pitt to hire Rich Rod. Why? Pitt is an underachieving pro style offense. The right coach will get them winning fast. Rich Rod will do the same thing he just did to Michigan.

Yep.
You're Michigan, and you're ranked 110th in total D.
Then you get pounded by Mississippi State in a bowl game.

Time for coachie to go bye-bye regardless of the prospects.
I mean, it can't get much worse.

I think he will succeed at a Big East/Mountain whatever confrence where the pressure is less and his style of play can be more easily put into place.

I wonder what the chances are of both Harbaugh and Luck returning to Stanford next year?

Yep, ESPN would look kind of foolish if these reports are false. After all the talking heads on ESPN are all reacting as if it has happened.
