NCAAF  > General NCAAF  > Luck returning to Stanford
January 6, 2011, 05:35 PM
CNN is reporting that Andrew Luck is opting to return to Stanford for his junior year. Now we just need Harbaugh to return and all will be well!

Should have taken the money as a number one pick. An equal performance with a 7-5 Stanford in 2011 will not land him in the same position.

In case anyone was wondering this is the difference between a college athlete that gets it and one that does'nt.Attention Terell Pryor!

Getting it is taking the 10 million in GTY'ed money and finishing your degree over the next spring and summer.

From all reports in he will be the top pick next year too.

It rarely ever happens. He is losing his coach too.

We'll have to tranq OM when he hears the news...

He's probably losing his coach. That's not guaranteed just yet.

As an alum I appreciate his staying. I hear you when you say he should take the money, but money isn't a necessity for him. His dad's a former pro quarterback and is the athletic director at West Virginia. His family isn't depending on him to lift them from poverty, as many other player's families might be. He'll still get a boatload of money. If he's enjoying college so much he should stay, because once you leave you can never go back. The NFL will still be there a year from now, with much less uncertainty surrounding the CBA and a possible lockout--and much less of a chance of being drafted by Carolina.

Yes it will. And whose to say Stanford will go 7-5? With the recruiting classes Harbaugh has brought in the last 3 years, there is plenty of talent waiting in the wings.

Hahhaha I was at school, and checked ESPN.com on my phone. Fortunately I was in Art Class, so I could afford to yell and shout. My friends and I were handing out high-fives left and right!

Waiting in the wings...sounds like a tampon commercial!

Blaine Gabbert just became the #1 QB in the draft.

Ask Charlie Weiss about coaching up plenty of young talent. He brought in a lot of top rated classes. They still have to be coached up. The question will be can Harbaugh's potential replacement do the things its going to take to keep Luck the top QB prospect.

I don't think so. Not unless he really impresses at the combines. Jake Locker is underrated right now because of his injuries. If he's healthy, he'll impress for sure at the combines. Also, someone's going to take a chance on Cam assuming he comes out.

Yep....and ask Mack Brown about having a boatload of talented players and running the table. TU's coaches didn't just implode over-night....isn't always about the coaching.

Why would Cam want to take a pay cut?

Crazy move. You can finish that year of college at a later date. You CAN'T get a $20 million check from Stanford at a later date.

I am very happy to hear this decision. Stanford is an easy team to root for.

Many things go into being the number one QB prospect. Outside of you having a good year without injuries, so does your team, and you need all the uncontrllable things to fall into place. Will be hard to do two years in a row without some other standout players returning. A new coach could mean a new system and this will make things harder too.

Didn't seem to hurt Bradford any.... :)

They said that about lienart also ... but they lied. Get out while you are the #1 pick ... then you can go back and get your education after you are done playing footbal and you are a millionaire.

That's a good point. Possibly factored into Luck's decision.

You've really got to admire this kid!

He said he wants stick around and get his degree, in architectural design or some such thing. I wonder how much the insurance policy on his right arm cost? $40,000 per tendon?
