Shhhh. Don't tell Oregon.
You might hurt their egos!
Just guessing here....because the AP voters gave Auburn more 1st place votes?
And in the BCS Auburn was ranked 1 from week 14 which was the week BSU fell? Conspiracy????
LOL
Auburn jumped Oregon in the BCS after they beat Alabama on the road in the Iron Bowl. After seeing Alabama demolish MSU, this win looks even more impressive in hindsight.
The AP voters kept Oregon #1 by a tiny margin after the Iron Bowl. They moved Auburn ahead of Oregon the next week, after Auburn beat South Carolina in the SEC Championship game. Yes, this was after the end of Oregon's season, but not after the end of the CFB season. More importantly, the AP has nothing to do with the BCS.

The real question is if the AU/Duck game is a blowout will Stanford and/or TCU jump the losing team and claim the 2nd and 3rd spots?

Save those comments til after the game is played. Auburn deserves to be playing for it all as does Oregon but in the end would either one of them be able to beat TCU?
Will have to wait and see, but if both rely simply on a speed spread attack in the main game my gut would say that TCU would get a number of 3 and outs. Enough to win? Hard to say.

TCU will finish 2nd. Stanford will move ahead of Auburn if Auburn loses but not Oregon if Oregon loses. That's my guess.

Yes, they'd be able to beat TCU. That's not to say that TCU couldn't beat them too.

Auburn was ranked #1 after week 9 then in week 10 Oregon passed them. At the time, everyone predicted that as long as they won out, Auburn would be ranked #1 after the Bama game which is what happened. No conspiracy. Just the way the math works out because of the computers. Doesn't really matter whether your #1 or #2.

In the polls, they both should.
Then again, I don't care for the poll system other than for it's entertainment value.
I previously mentioned the idea of ranking teams in bunches or groups (something the vast majority of sports fans would find crazy - due to the insistence on having a #1, a #2, a #3, etc)
Earlier, I said I had UO/AU/TCU/Stanford/Wisc/tOSU in group #1.
Now, I would have:
- Group #1 ... UO-AU winner/TCU/Stanford
- Group #2 ... UO-AU loser/Wisc/tOSU/Bama
- Group #3 ... Ark/BSU/LSU/OK St/Nevada (if they win tonight)
... or something along those lines!
Now - I would have the OU/AU winner in group 1, and the loser in group 2.

It would seem so, except #2 has won 6 of the last 8 CGs.
We can always argue whether the BCS picked the 2 best teams, but from CG results it appears the BCS has a lousy record at identifying the real #1.
