You got to like the tweet trash talkin. This definately serves the over rated Heat right. I mean these guys are a bunch of spoiled, attention craving #$%#@&^.You dont know who Paul is Haslem? In additon to the buzzer beater to kill your teams spirits in the playoffs Paul is the same guy who is 16-2 in his last 18 teams against the heat(your team). That including the playoffs. You know him quite well. NBA champ, Finals MVP, 20,000 career points, 1st ballot hall of famer, 3rd alltime scoring leader on the greatest franchise of alltime time. If anybody is unknown it's you. You a scrub role player. Are you kidding me! who says this stuff?
A. DWade "We're the best 5-4 team in basketball"
B. James "44 minutes is too much. Coach Spo knows that"
C. Gullygad2 "all this hate just shows you respect us"
D. Haslem "Paul who? Man ain't no one payin attention to those dudes man"
It's pretty interesting to read something like this with comments from over a year and a half ago and see how much things have changed and how much or how little my opinion has changed. Wow!

TO THE GUY WHO SAID TIM DUNCAN DOESN't LOOK GOOD ON THE COURT. WELL, HE BETTER PUT HIS GLASSES ON. TIM DUNCAN HAS WON FOUR CHAMPIONSHIPS AND HAS BEEN AN ALL STAR EVERY YEAR. NOT ONLY IS HE A GREAT PLAYER BUT A CLASS ACT, NOT LIKE YOU(BOMBSNIFFINGDOG), THAT'S WHAT YOU CALL YOURSELF, EVEN THE NAME IS DISGUSSTING. PAUL PIERCE IS ALSO A CLASS ACT AND IS A GREAT PLAYER.
I'll admit he is underrated but not an all-around guy.
Yup Banner 18 will be hung in Boston!!! The truth is leading the way. Wait till post season. Pierce will be taking it to all of your beloved so called super stars. This guy is still top five right now and he isnt even in his prime anymore.
I think I would have to be on crack to believe that Paul Pierce is in the top 5 NBA players. Prior to Garnett and Allen joining the team, only Garnett and Allen I recall ever been considered in the top 5 NBA players. Course, I consider Tom Brady as the top QB of all-time. So what do I know?

Keep in mind this thread was started 3 years ago. Pierce isn't close to it anymore, even though he's one of the best clutch players still. 3 years ago he was considerably better and it was a lot easier to think of him up there.

I gotcha! The Celtics won the finals 3 years ago. I still wouldn't have Pierce in the top 5. Reason being he has proven as well as Garnett and Allen, they cant' win without a Hall of Fame player to play along side. Just for fun, I decided to place all my top picks on the Celtics team replacing Pierce and I ask myself, would they have won the finals 3 years ago. ANSWER: Yep! That said replace Pierce on my picks on their respective team and ask yourself will they go to the finals. ANSWER: Nope. I could be wrong, but the Celtics were getting their but whipped in the first round if they made it that for during Pierce reign as Top Celtic Dog! Since Garnett has been on the team it is arguably who is the best player on the CELTICS, not so the Top 5 NBA players. His leadership in encouraging his team to win are equally matched by Garnett, Allen, and Shaq. Without them, sub-par as we have seen over the years. My picks have done better during the same time as Pierce with less talent on some teams. Now I mention this because this is one of the few tangibles I see between the others with respect to Pierce ability to score, pass, defend, long range, drives and rebound. All of which my picks do equally if not better. Course, me being a Laker dawg, I could be trippin!

Look you guys keep putting D wade in your top five and I would take Pierce in his prime over d wade any day. D wade is sooo overrated. Ill give u that Wade might be more athletic than Pierce, but as far as basket ball goes Pierce is just a better player. Miami just lost three in a row with out Lebron. I think that speaks for it self. Lebron is the best in the NBA and after that Pierce should be right at the top. (in his prime) Even as he is right now I still think he can school your top four. Kobe, Wade, Anthony and Durant. I mean come on this guy has proved it time and time again that he can out play any of those guys. Cant wait till post season this year and you guys will see him do it again. He ll even bring it to lebron again so watch closely.
History has been filled with failure as a leader for the Celtics prior to Garnett and Allen. Your boy had his chance for more than a decade with no NBA final VISIT, let alone win one. Why is this: He doesn't make players better around him. The current team do it mostly on their own and with the leadership provided by Garnett, Allen, Shaq even R. Wallace when he was there. LOL uh uh Pierce has always been a sidekick player at best. Heck, I'm not a Celtic fan, but all my friends believe Garnett is the better player. I'm incline to agree.

Truth Hurts.....Paul Pierce (P2) couldn't of done it all by himself. Even when Antoine Walker was his team mate they 'truly' didn't get along. P2 would of never won a championship if KG and Jesus Shuttleworth weren't on his team. He's a hell of a talent, but not not an ideal team mate that I would like to play alongside....(does the 2002 Olympics ring-a-bell...hmmmmmmmm). Keep in mind that P2 can afford to gamble more both on the offensive & defensive end, cause he has other players around him that can bail him out.Remember, it was his short temper and moody ways, which got him into trouble (Sept 2000)....with the whole stabbing situation (not an ideal leader).P2 winning a championship, is a result of being on the right team @ the right time, with the right key players....yes he did dominate a couple of games/series.....but that's bound to happen when you have 2 other All-Stars that you have to worry about.Top 5 current players (no particular order)1. Lebron James2. Kobe Bryant3. Chris Paul4. Dirk Nowitzki5. Kevin Garnett
Sorry dude....in no way is Garnett or Paul or Nowitzki better than Wade.
It is more like:
LeBron, Wade, Kobe, Paul and Durant.

Before Garnett and Allen were signed it was Pierce's team and the Celtics did what?,, umm nothing. They were gone in the 1st round if they made the playoffs and he was seen as a soft player (ask Kenyon Martin and the Nets back then). Good player, yes,,, Great Celtic ,, yes,, top 5 in the league?,, umm no

you have to remember that even Kobe couldn't take the Lakers (who were better then the Celts pre-big 3) out of the first round of playoffs.
This is a team game. No player can do it alone.
Thats a great point. The only player in the league right now that can truly carry a team is Lebron. I think that has been proven this year considering how bad leave land has proved them selfs to be. Maybe Pierce has lost a step this year, but 2 or three years ago he was top five all day.

Lebron can truly carry a team to the playoffs, but not to a championship. He's proven this much already. I think its a unfair and innacurate to try and give Lebron ALL of the credit for Cleveland being so bad. They also lost Shaq, Illgauskus, Delonte West, Anderson Varajou is out for the whole season, Mo Williams was hurt for part of the season so far. Thats losing 6 top contributors and replacing them with nothing. It'd be a fair comparison if they had replaced any of those lost pieces with talent and that talent was underperforming, but they didn't. They have bench scrubs starting and D-league caliber players on the bench. Cleveland sucking right now proves nothing about LBJ. He was definately their best player, but he didn't make them lose all but 10 games by him being the only one who left.
I'm not trying to go at you personally, but just want to put it out there for the rest of the readers who read afterwards. A lot of ppl have been trying to use that concept to justify LBJ MVP hype and its ridiculous.

Pierce did not do squat until Garnett, Allen and Rondo showed up...
LeBron has NEVER, not one time in Cleveland did he EVER have another guy capable of carrying the team when he is being doubled...hence, why the guy got out of town.
Miami has Wade, who has won a title and Bosh, who can score to carry them just like the Celts.
Pierce is underrated but not a Top 5 player... Top 10 yes though....
LeBron, Wade, Kobe, Rose/Durant, Nowitzki....that is your Top 5-6.
