NCAAF  > General NCAAF  > An End-of-Season Sonnet

Alas! I cry as football season ends;
Naught left to do but wait for the Spring Game.
To other sports and hobbies my time lends
Itself, for to stay sane is my sole aim.

I work, I cook, I clean, my house I keep;
I shovel snow from my drive and walks, too.
On Saturdays now all I do is sleep,
For there is nothing else for me to do.

Light quietly gives way to darkest night,
Mimicking my joy that faded to black.
And hope it seems is so far from my sight
???Til Spring arrives and football has come back.

One hundred two days from now I will beam;
Then I can cheer again my favorite team.

Go Bucks!

You need to move to Florida and take up golf.

I have the opposite problem -- there is a boat load of things I'm supposed to be doing on Saturday that get neglected during the fall. I need the off-season to catch up.

Sung to the Barney tune right?

Excellent stuff, B-i-G.

My sex life tends to improve in off season. Not that any improvement is much better than normal, but....
Golf is good also, but our season runs April to October. It's always a tough choice in September - a last few rounds of gold or watch football.

I want to hear superior rap it.

I just tried to do that in my head and a sonnet just doesn't seem to lend itself to rap that well.

Fill in the phrasing differences with WUT and SON.
