was just looking at SI's 2011 CFB Power Rankings myself CenLA.
some similarities to CBS Sports' Preseason Top 25 you mentioned.
(and some noticeable differences)
Of course there will be many changes over the next 7 mos, but still some interesting stuff to talk about.

Of note:
- Both are in agreement on the top 6
- Missouri is #13 on 1 list, and not even on the other
- TX and Florida are at the bottom of 1 list and not on the other
- USC is on neither list
- the last time these teams were a preseason top 10:
.. TX A&M - 1999
.. Michigan St - 1967
.. Stanford - 1950
p.s.
Staples wrote his predictions on the Jan 12th - a few days before the deadline to declare for the draft.
He guessed OK State's QB Brandon Weeden and WR Justin Blackmon would enter the draft. They both decided to stay.
That would account for the large disparity in the 2 polls.
What's really interesting about two teams in the top three is that LSU meets Oregon in Jerry's Palace for the first game of the year.
That's going to be a great game to attend. I will be there. Did he build this one in Irvine as well?
BAH, its not like they should be top 10, but SDSU returns a lot and should be 20-25 or so.

So after LSU holds Oregon to 15 points and beats them by a solid 10 points, are we ever gonna start to hear stories about how Chip Kelly can't win the big one? As a matter of schadenfreud, I'd like to see someone else have to put up with that crap for two years.
Staples is an assss therefore I dont pay attention to any of his work....
Way to early to be worrying about the top 25 teams for next year, how about just the obvious two or three? I am a razorback fan, but I believe that Oklahoma or Stanford are the cream of the crop currently.

I think the Razorbacks will be pretty good. Tyler Wilson is very good. He's got some good receivers and the SEC West is heavily weakened from the Draft.

SEC West is still the stronger of the 2 divisions IMO. Hoping the balance is tipping towards the East at least a little bit, though. Arky and LSU and Bama will scrap it out for the West next year IMO.

The East is looking better. Florida will be on the rise and SCar is looking very good. I just can't see the SEC in the title next year.

Heck, I can! Got my big ol' 5-gallon SEC Kool-Aid bucket right here...

LSU has a shot and maybe Alabama - they're loaded with talent so if they respond, they'll be great.

Yes, on these boards if nowhere else. 3 big ones in a row would equate to where Stoops started catching flack at OU.

Sooners look great though this year. Best receivers in the nation IMO. Very favorable schedule as well.
QUOTE(#18):
Where's USC? Wait, nevermind.
Around 25th may be accurate. If nothing else they will have a veteran QB and at the start of the season (before injuries mount a bit) they might be a very hard team to beat.
