The Raider fans should storm the Castle, firing Cable made NO sense.

The problems they have are on defense. The natural move for Al is to hire an offensive guy to be the head coach.

Problem solved?

Yeah, I saw him too, and seeing him again. He looks like hell warmed over.

is that a good thing ? I thought Cable did a good job with the team, and was surprised that he was fired, but with Al calling the shots, it`s not that big of a surprise.

If you ask some Raider fans, it is the best thing to happen since sliced bread. But I can't help feeling an impending sense of doom.

I hope I'm wrong, obviously. We shall see.

did you like the firing of Cable ? I thought he was doing a good job there, but I see were a lot of Raider fans are happy about it.

It's not that I'm a huge fan of Cable or anything, but given the Raiders history, I'm more for consistency. Obviously in the coaching aspects, there has been none.

I liked Cable for his ability to give the players belief in their ability to win. There were several games this season where the 'old Raiders' would have simply given up both offensively and defensively when they found themselves down on the scoreboard. I understand that Jackson is behind the utilization of the RBs and the doubling of the offensive numbers this year, but the head coach (IMO) is responsible for the overall attitude of the team. Some don't give him credit for that.

Additionally, I think that many forget that the team was held back the last couple of years because of Russell. The defense didn't give a crap because they were on the field for the majority of the game and the offense didn't give a crap because the playbook was limited because of Russell's inability to comprehend it. You can only take so many 3 and outs before you begin thinking 'What's the point?'

I do hope Jackson will continue where Cable left off. Again, we shall see.
