Look, this is more of a tease.I guess the guy was kidding. But at the same token, for everyone that kids like this, there are MANY that simply believe it to be true!See Lesnar example. Obviously, he had wrestling, but from 10 years before he started training for MMA. And yet people believed he was bad arse simply because he came from WWE and also because of UFC's hype. And don't get me wrong. I understand people's faith in his size & strength and speed to take him above the rest, but come on now. we are still taking about someone who's untrained & untested against guys who's been at it most their life. And again, this is not much about Lesnar. but answer me this: If Meathead was a famous WWE "fighter" that crossed over to MMA, how many would say this to be true? After all "he beat kimbo motherfuckin slice!!!"....
agreed its a tease, BUT as you mention there are people like this. UNO for one. do people know who Jackie Robinson and Babe Ruth are? Well Fedor is to MMA what these guys were to baseball. I know we get it, but these youngins do not, and it gets very frustrating. People have their opinions and they can like whoever they want. Just dont be ignorant and bash blindly. Just look at the ignorance, Fedor won 30 sumthin fights in a row against the whos who of MMA, he lost once and is washed up. Lezbo has 5 fights under his belt?? and hes the greatest ever. There is a diff between BOASTING Lezbo, and cheering for him as Jimbo does. Jim wanted him to do well. Lezbo SEEMED as if he had some promise, but i think guys like Jimbo can also admit that he is just inexperienced.
Jimbo not calling you out at all pal, just makina point

I think a better example would be MLB fans not knowing who Sadaharu Oh is.
Eventually I believe that the majority of MMA fans will learn these things about its history. But even now in other sports that you get some of this insane talk (things like "Jordan wouldn't be able to hang in the modern NBA" and such).
People should know this stuff though.

i guess we are watching history be made. and thats the gretest example about Jordan..I hear it all the time. Jordan was hands down the greatest basketball player to ever live. The game has changed though, if you took Jordan in his prime and placed his attributes in the bball of NOW? he would be an above average player, but you have to think that if Jordan was playing now and in his prime then he would be more evolved than he was when he really played.

See thats where you are mis understanding my point. For one I am not a youngster all though I wish I was. I am prob the same age or older as most of you guys, I started to follow MMA during the Gracie time and fell in love with the sport....... I have always given props to Fedor as an MMA fighter for his overall career but as lately he hasnt fought the kind of fighters to still have all the hype is my point. So you think fighting guys like Brett Rogers, Tim S and Werdum is the same road as fighting Frank Mir, Carwin and Cain.... I think not, until Fedor starts fighting top MMA HW then I will buy into the hype, until then he is a has been. If you really think that Brett R, Tim S and Werdum is a much harder road then I am not the one with blinders on.

But the prob is MMA is still at his infant stages... When you have guys like Brock or even Cain with a couple MMA wins and then becomes a champion tells you the sport is open to anybody to have a career. In boxing you dont have fighters with a couple of wins fight against the top champions, its a more difficult challenge because boxers have master the sport unlike MMA where fighters are scratching the surface. If you want to compare it to basketball MMA is right now is going through the 70s where top players only have to be good at one thing like shooting or grabbing rebounds to stand out while the new players are able to do a little more in order to survive. I am exciting to see where MMA is going in the next 10 yrs.

Plus you cant compared Fedor to Jordan... at age 34 Jordan was winning another championship... Yeah it was a shot lol

I think you got stuck at the gracie era.
Now fighters have to know at least 2 martial arts to be able to compete!
Case in point are many.
Cain, GSP, Machida, BJ, Rua, Silva... all know much more than one martial art.
And besides, the problem where MMA fighters with a couple of wins goes for the belt... that is a problem where the promotion looks more at revenue than making it a serious sport.
And this is the mindset difference here. If bringing Lesnar brings more money than having someone unknown fighting, they will put Lesnar.
Until this backfires, the sport will suffer.
