MLB  > General MLB  > What to do with Jacolb Turner / Tigers thread

Never started on of these before so I thought I would stretch out and see what kinda traffic hits these boards...

My wondering revolves around Jacolb Turner. He is already on a fast track and seems poised to be making, perhaps, a hand full of major league starts this season.

But the question is- are the Tigers better served to give him still a full year in the minors. We saw Porcello come up and perform fantastically his first year! He was on track to do a myriad of things in the Tigers rotation, but then he hit a bump- and it was near impossible to recover back to form until we sent him to the Mudhens again. I would hate to accellerate a kid that is already showing more promise at age and skill level than Porcello and have the same thing happen all over again.

I really think Turner needs to stay in the minors all this season- and though he may be more talanted than Furbush or Oliver right now- unless we are in some real threat of a post season run, he needs to stay down and develop. It will give us more time to make him into a better pitcher, in my opinion...
