carolina, tampa, detroit, minasota all those teams should look at cassel i think just about every team is gonna look at him i think he would fit in great with panthers or vikes but if i was the lions i would look to build a team around him i bet they are the top contenders
I think New England will keep him, Brady might not play next year. Why let a guy that knows the system and one who can preform so well, go to another team?
They wont, Cassel will stay.....

Delhomme is the leader, he needs to stay in the starting line-up. IMO, they should not.....

Honestly, I don't think the Panthers will. Jake Delhomme is a good quarterback, and more importantly a great leader and fit for the Panthers. He may not have elite skills but I trust him to win us games when it really matters.
I am not conviinced that Cassel is anything but a system QB at this point. Carolina does not need that I say let San Diego run Rivers out with their underappreciation (or with AJ Smith doing something equally as stupid as hiring Norm)for his skills and let him come to the Panthers.

Carolina is a good 2-3 years away from addressing the qb position. Carolina usually doesnt throw that type of money on free agents, prefering to give it to homegrown players on the team (Delhomme, Smith, Gamble, soon to be Peppers and Gross) Besides, it appears that the Panthers are grooming Matt Moore to take over in a few years for Delhomme. Cassel will end up with Tampa Bay or Jacksonville and be exposed for what he is, a system qb that benefits from the west coast offense and having receivers named Welker and Moss...
More like MN or Tampa. Any player who's willing to go to Detroit mights will retire before playing for a horrible org.
carolina wins with running and defense, delhomme is a perfectly good QB for their team

Hell no they shouldn't pick him up, he had a ok year, and i don't say this much but he's not better than Jake...
Hell no, i don't say this much but Jake's better. We need a Super Bowl QB
Matt Cassell = product of the system.
Jake Delhomme = winner. Not pretty. Just a winner.
No way! Delhomme is one of the reasons we got to the playoffs, he's a winner.
I agree. Delhomme may not always be pretty but he gets it done. The qb position is not what the Panthers need to address right now. They should use free agency to take a look at an interior lineman such as Tennessee's Albert Haynesworth. That is one of their big issues right now.
I don't think Cassel is the answer. Hopefully Matt Moore does work out for the future, but I am begining to wander since they felt the need to bring in Mccown instead of making him the #2 guy. Delhomme is good enough for now. He does pretty good at the short to mid range passes and has Steve Smith to make the bombs work out when his passes are off target or short (which is often).

Off of Cassel for a moment, as a Ute fan, I follow the Panthers pretty closely since they have 3 Ute grads starting for them. However, when I see postings about Steve Smith, he seems like a pretty hated guy.
Panther fans, what do you think of Steve Smith?
Why would we need another back-up QB?? We already have two or three.
As one football prognosticator said this past Sunday when asked which NFL team Cassell would fit in the best next year, he replied "whichever team has the same offensive coordinator team as he had this past year (at NE.)"
You Jake-haters are one of the most amazing species of animal on this entire planet. The man is injured one year and the Panthers never had a chance the rest of the year. He comes back the next year and leads the team to the best record in the NFC--and really beat the Giants in my opinion in regulation on their home-field--and you guys are still b****ing.
And this is a few years after scoring as many TDs in the Super Bowl as the vaunted "team of the decade (Patriots) in the Super Bowl.
Absolutely amazing.
If we were in prehistoric times you guys wouldn't make it. Your brain must be too small--must not be getting enough protein to it.
You Jake-haters need to go the way of the dodo-bird and other strange "amazing they're still around " extinct species...

A sports writer in the Charlotte paper said it best in an article yesterday: Smith is the best Panther of all time. (see below)
I agree. But, I've known that for a while.
That's why I own a light blue "no. 89" Panther jersey.
P.S. Most Panther fans think of Smith as family. Granted, the first time he hit a player years ago I was one of the first to say "get rid of him."
What changed my mind?...Well, it wasn't just his excellent playing ability.
Steve Smith has anger control issues he has tried to overcome. He has made a lot of progress. I remember during his rookie season he was so pumped up and "talking smack" during a Bucs game I thought some of the Bucs were going to jump him and beat some sense into him--nd I wouldn't have minded seeing it.
What has endeared him to me and most Panther fans is that he is not a prima donna--which he very very very easily could be. If one of the prima donna wide recievers (ocho stupido, Terrell "Cancer" Owens, etc) had hit another player he would have quickly lost his popularity--no matter how many TDs he scored.
As someone once said recently "Steve Smith is pound for pound the best football player in the entire league." I agree. Yes, he's very talented (and quick) but it's his attitude on the field that tends to endear him to football connoiseurs. If you look in the dictionary under "determination" one might see Steve Smith's pic. There are plenty of athletically gifted players in the NFL. What sets Smith apart from the rest is his determination to win. I bet his small size has something to do with it.
How many catches have we Panther fans seen Smith make--not because he's the quickest reciever on the field or the tallest or the one with the longest wingspan and biggest/softest hands, but because ***he willed it to happen***.
That's a ballplayer, man.
The best in the NFL.

Tom Brady will not be ready for the start of the 2009 season. With that said, the Pats will want to hang on to him until Brady can go and trade him hopefully by week 6 in the 09 season.
As I see it, the New England Patriots will actually start Cassel next year and dont be surprised if Tom Brady is traded before the beginning of the regular season next year. CRAZY? Tom is not a young man anymore, he has an injured knee, and will not be ready for the start of 2009 either. This is the NFL. Can you say, "Drew Bledsoe?".
