Hahaha. If Strikeforce could ever turn a profit, they'd hire you to do their PR.

where have you been???
They already have! I work for snake :)
He is injured.
They just got him to wait to announce it so that they could do the whole surprise thing with Bones in the cage.
Guaranteed if he had won a boring decision, there would have been no such shocking announcement.

I don't know... I don't like it.
Don't get me wrong, I WANT Bones to fight for the belt this year. But he should have hadto win at least against someone at the top. Like Rampage for instance. By giving him a title shot after the best name he defeated was Vera is ridiculous.
QUOTE(#6):
Agreed. IMO, you need to beat a top 5 guy to earn a title shot. Jones hasn't.
While Silva had a very good career before coming to the UFC, he beat Leben and went to the front of the line for a title shot. So while I don't think Jones has earned it - the fact that onilne wagering sites (you know, if that was legal) have listed Bones as the favourite against Rua already - proves people are way too hyped for Jones. I like Jones, but he's not ready for Rua.
In my opinion

Also, it turns out Rampage was given the offer before Jones was and he turned it down.

Roni hates when good fights put together by the UFC.
While I can concede with giving a shortcut to the title for someone who comes from an already victorious career, I do think that, for the sake of being fair, the person arriving should fight (at least) the #1 contender. Or, in case his fight against the champ is already booked, he needs to fight at least a top 5 contender to get to be the next in line.
Look, I am not against a mega fight. it would be silly to say I prefer Okami & Silva than a mega-fight against GSP (or bones or Rua, etc).
I just want it to be fair to the guys who fought their butts off to get to #1 spot.

LOL Yoda. Try as you may, I won't let you bait me :P~
QUOTE(#16):
And rightfully so. Rampage wouldn't take that fight on such short notice, because he is smart. Why go into a fight with the disadvantage of not being ready? 5-6 weeks is not proper enough time to take a fight against someone like Shogun. Ramap is going about it the right way. He'll get a full training camp against Thiago Silva who is a Muay Thai fighter like Shogun is and then when he beats Silva he'll have a full training camp to beat Shogun and he'll be ready for that style. Lets just see if Jones throws a wrench into that whole thing.
I don't know.
I agree rampage will not take Rua lightly... he has a GREAT reason not to...
I think he still has nightmares about that night.
but don't take his fight against Thiago lightly. he is a powerful puncher with great ground game.
Don't forget that his only losses are to elusive fighters like Rashad & machida. Almost anyone that faced him were KO'd...
Jon Jones will def be champ one day and had a great performance sat night but I dont think he is ready this early for a title. Rua is going to be too much and is way more experience. It will be a great learning experience for Jones already fighting an elite fighter this early in his career that he can take with him when he is actually ready to be a champ. I am curious to see how this plays out.

I agree plus Rampage is walking around 250 right now and would have concentrate more on losing weight instead of actually training for the fight. He needs the full 12 weeks to be fully prepared. It???s a shame what happen to Evans, its going to make other fighters think before sitting out that long waiting for someone to heal up.

this is a tricky proposition though. I mean, he fights and loses, he loses his spot at the title. He waits and gets hurt, when he's back he is still in line for a title shot... i mean, same as Vitor, right?
QUOTE(#21):
Yup. His training camp wouldn't be long enough to cut the weight the right way and prepare a gameplan at the same time.
gameplan for rampage???
That's laughable.
His gameplan since he came to UFC has always been the same.
Grow roots in the middle of the octagon and try to punch someone to a KO when they get close.
If anything, I can call the fight against rua right now: Rua will kicks the snot out of Rampage's legs like Forrest did, in the same fashion he did against Machida. OR, if you want me to give you his plan B, it is remind us of what happened in 2005 with the only real difference that now Rampage doesn't have the corner of the ring to sit and hide! :)

Now now, be fair with Mr. Quinton. He did win a UFC title doing that :)
