ST. GEORGE'S, Grenada - Mike Adams has been appointed as coach of Grenada for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the federation General Secretary Victory Daniel confirmed Monday.

Adams, who was an assistant with the team as far back as 2004, was approved on Friday by the executive committee, which also extended the contract of Phillip James as manager. Adams replaces Franklyn "Nat" Simpson, who led the "Spice Boys" to a fourth-place finish at the Digicel Caribbean Cup in Martinique in December.

Grenada qualified for its second straight Gold Cup, finishing ahead of Trinidad and Martinique in the group stage of the finals to reach the knockout phase.

It was the smallest nation to ever reach for the Gold Cup when it qualified in 2009, losing all three games by a combined 10-0.
