LA would gain a scorer but lose a rebounder and low post defender.
In the playoffs, defense is very important and I think that Melo would HURT the Lakers more than he would help them...especially this season because with 30 games to play, that is not a lot of time to gel within a new offense and team.
LA just beat Boston in Boston last night...my guess is that they will start to get their swagger back and trade talk will die.
