Just beautiful, Shittsburgh got their butts kicked on the scoreboard and all over the ice. Now the coach and Godard will be suspended. 10 games for the goon.

Hahaha!! Ahhhahahahahhhhahah!!!! 9-3 beating by the ISLANDERS!!! Hahahahahaha. That'll teach them to laugh at the injury DiPietro got from Johnson. Maybe Talbot learned not to hit guys from behind too.

So great how NHL.com does not even put any of this great game as a highlight on the main page. Do they think that it will just go away or something, what a joke. That should have been the number one story of the night.

February 12, 2011  04:30 PM ET

well, it's not on their today because it only has todays current stories. I just hate that this is the only time ESPN ever really covers the NHL...

February 12, 2011  04:30 PM ET

oops, there*

February 12, 2011  08:16 PM ET

Hockeynutz, grow up. Yeah, the Pens got their butts handed to them. But they'll make the playoffs, whereas the Islanders will be golfing, as usual...

Unfortunately ESPN only covers what it airs.

Expect a defend yourself challenge on Monday.

February 13, 2011  08:31 PM ET

I think the Pens should learn to defend themselves like the Islanders did.

I'm not sure you can call what the Isle's did as defending.

If this is what gets you happy you must have a terrible hockey team. The coach didnt get suspended at all so I have no idea what you mean by that. And I am pretty sure the Pens shook off the loss. Even with all these injuries we will STILL make the playoffs. Something the Islanders cant do fully healthy. That was a sideshow by a last place team that had nothing to lose. Why is there need to strike back for your goalies sake? Di Pietro squared off in a fair fight with Johnson. Its not Johnsons fault he broke your Goalies glass jaw with one punch. Thats the risk you take when you drop the gloves. But somehow attacking Tandgradi (a rookie just called up and had nothing to do with the game a week prior) and hitting him in the back of the head repeatedly even when he was on the ice was the right thing to do. And then lets all stand over him and taunt him while he is lying cuncussed on the ice from a cheap shot. If I did that to someone during a pickup game I would be in jail right now. All this boils down to is one simple fact. JEALOUSY BREEDS HATRED. Which is why both the ISLANDERS fans and players enjoyed that sorry discrace for a hockey game. I hope you guys enjoyed it cause thats your stanley cup. Hope your precious Islanders and all their fans enjoy the next decade of sitting at home and watching the Pens go to the playoffs annually. I can say the odds are in Pittsburghs favor that this city and this country will watch Sid the Kid lift that cup several more times. To bad you cant say that about your team. Pissed off at this post? Like I said, JEALOUSY BREEDS HATRED.

Sure it was, they had players injured by the penguins and were laughed at by the bench on television. They stood up for themselves and wiped the smiles off the pens' faces. They policed themselves against guys who took cheapshots at their goaltender and Comeau. Johnson took a sucker punch on DiPietro when DP thought they were just playing around. Talbot did a blindside hit on Comeau and caused him to get a concussion. They stood up for eachother and not only did they beat them up physically, they beat them on the scoreboard very badly. Nobody can say the Isles guys were focused on taking cheapshots and were out of control, because in the midst of the rough stuff, they put up 9 goals. Any team that was out of control probably would have allowed 9 goals, not score 9 goals. Lemiuex then made himself look stupid by issuing a statement against the NHL and said they did a horrible job in punishing the Islanders. He expected more punishment??? How can he talk about circus sideshows when he employs the dirtiest player in the entire game in Matt Cooke. Cooke is lucky to have received only 4 games for his horrific hit from behind on Tyutin. It is unbelievable how he got 4 for that and Gilles got a whopping 9 games for a simple elbow that just happened to injure Tangradi. Oh well its over now so who cares?

I assume you're not familiar with the Hocknutz comment section. Sacasm plays best.

Go Habs is correct on all counts.

Lemieux made a fool of himself after issuing his statement the other day, that's all I can say. I've always liked Lemieux until that statement. He just shot himself in the foot with that, and if he needs to rethink whether or not he wants to remain a part of the NHL, maybe he should just step down from his position and retire completely.
