NFL  > Atlanta Falcons  > Atlanta Falcons playoff chances
December 21, 2008, 01:06 PM
With the Dallas Cowboys loosing last night at the hands of the Ravens. Atlanta still needs to win out to better there chances of getting the 6th seed as a wildcard. The 64 million dollar question. Can they win out? Will they still be able to get in IF they get beat by Minnesota?

Even if they don't get in the playoffs it has been a great year for them. Possibly the best feel good story next to the Dolphins.

Yes and Yes to your 2 questions.

December 21, 2008  08:20 PM ET

WERE IN!!! WERE IN!!! and if We beat the Rams, and the Panthers lose to NY and N.OR WE THE #2 SEED!!! thats right the #2 SEED!!!. Ya know we kinda limped to the victory against the vikings but they got a pretty good D. Overall we got a well rounded team that will be able to be competitive and have chances to win any game remaining

To be honest I would feel alot more comfortable with the #5 seed in the Wild Card instead of the #2 seed. Thats just my opinion, we would have a better chance in my opinion!

December 21, 2008  09:34 PM ET

We needed a lot of help to get the wild card spot. 1st Dallas loosing to the Ravens, Bucs loosing to the Bolts and finally us beating Minnesota. The stars and moon lined up for us no doubt. Now with a win next week against the Lambs (Sorry the Rams)we'll finish out as the #5 seed. What that means is we'll play Arizona. That shouldn't even be a game. Then we'll get either NY or Carolina. I will not even look further than that!

GREAT SEASON FALCONS!!

with all the uncertainty around last season, it just show's with alot of hard work and self cofidence and a sense of pride the falcons can and will reach their full potenial

December 23, 2008  11:39 AM ET

now remember their in at 5 seed if carolina losses atlanta wins into number 2 seed

December 23, 2008  11:46 AM ET

wether they end up with the 5 seed they can still play with and have beat the panthers cards shouldnt be there with 8-7 record g-men dont look promising none the less whatever happens they had a great year go falcons

I have to disagree with your assessment that the Dolphins story is a feel good one. The Dolphins just plain sucked but are now playing good ball. The Flcons were dumped on by thier star QB and their "head" coach! Big difference.

Now that the Falcons are safely in the playoffs, I have one single obsession - the Eagles beating Dallas. After listening to obnoxious Cowboys fans spout off all year, I want nothing more than to see them fizzle out like a fat lady's fart in a shag-carpet seat cover. GO PHILLY!!!

Why do you feel you need to say the Falcons story is better than the Dolphins or even vice versa? The truth be told they are both amazing stories...leave it at that.

While emotionally and spiritually, I don't think anyone can touch Atlanta's story this season, to downplay Miami's turnaround is wrong. Anytime anyone pulls the "worst to first" move, it's an incredible story.

Can you believe how good the Falcons are? I almost pooped my pants, when they beat my Bucs. They have come along way.... M. Vic.....Coaching problems etc., It would be nice to see them go to the big dance and really stick it to the two people who gave them such a black eye.
not a fan, but they get the nod.

You know you're right...I lived the Vick/Petrino drama last year. It was like an enormous dark cloud just suffocated this city...it was awful! For the Dolphins to do what they did...is amazing. BUT...the Falcons have true redemption, like nothing I've seen before in all of sports. The feeling in this city is night and day compared to this time last year...

I know it's a long shot, but would anybody else like to see the Dolphins and the Falcons in Tampa Bay when all is said and done? That would be a sports writer's dream.

...and a dream this Falcons fan would love to wake up to!

I want to congratulate the Falcons and Falcon fans. I thought this team would be messed up for years to come after Patrino and Vick. But Arthur Blank is proving to be a very smart business man/leader and an owner who truly wants to put a winning team out on the field.
He got the right Coach and the right draft picks....job well done. It doesnt even matter if the Falcons dont win a playoff game, this season was an over the top success.
