http://blog.al.com/live/2011/02/auburn_toomers_corner_oaks_ poisoned.html

Back in January, some one called into the Finebaum show and said they had intentionally poisoned the trees on Toomer's Corner in Auburn. They checked the soil and found out it indeed happened and now the trees are going to die.

This is the kind of crazy you get in Alabama. I hope no Auburn nut does something to retaliate.

First off, do you really think someone would be dumb enough to broadcast they did it? I'd be willing to bet it was not the guy that called in but someone who heard him.

Second, please tell your fans that, yes, they did indeed roll Toomer's Corner after Coach Bryant died.

Article from 4 years ago about the doomed trees of Toomer's Corner, but now we are supposed to believe someone poisoned them and that is why they are going to die? Kind of convenient it happened on the same day the Thibodeaux story broke.

some nut did this (regardless of his school affiliation) and if you listen to finebaum you know that some idiot might call it and brag about it. you really don't think there are any irrational bama fans that do ridiculous ****, do you? every school has them including auburn.

i'm not defending anything some fools from Auburn did. i was just illustrating how insane it can get in alabama. you really have an inferiority complex.

No, just pointing out the Thibodeaux story is the real story and that this is probably being used to deflect away from that.

As for inferiority complex, I don't see how that is possible.

wouldn't be surprised by that.

Not really, the definition doesn't sound a bit like me. I'm pointing out that
1. already auburn fans have already Jumped to the conclusion that an Alabama fan has done this.
2. the trees were already reported 4 years ago as dying.
3. it is convenient that this comes out on the same day a story about investigations going on broke.
4. If you ever want to talk about classless ness, let's talk about rolling Toomer's Corner after Coach Bryant died. And all the acts of vandalism that have been committed on our campus. I don't remember me coming and posting it to this forum when someone burned 28-27 into the grass in front of the statues, but hey, you think I have a complex all you want.

Every thing you read on here, you take as an attack on Alabama. No where in this post have I directly accused a person from Bama of doing this. (Of course, reality check - chances are it is an Alabama fan.) I'm sure there are Auburn fans that would have done it to Alabama if it were one of their traditions.

Again, my point is that this is how crazy rivalries can be especially in Alabama. And this kind of behavior is pathetic as is rolling toomers when Bear died.

And I agree, the news was probably released today to distract from the Louisiana story.

"This is the kind of crazy you get in Alabama. I hope no Auburn nut does something to retaliate."

1. Just about every auburn fan has tried and convicted some nameless Alabama fan. You'd have to be Helen Keller not to have noticed.

2. It's a little ironic that you claim I take everything as an attack when taken into context with #1.

3. It's also a little ironic, that you and at least 1 other auburn fan took it as an attack when I said auburn would go 6-6 or possibly 7-5 if a miracle happened. That is pretty much what everyone has been saying but when I said it, it was an attack.

When you say that you are basically saying an Alabama fan did it. How can you not see that?

fine. i'm saying an alabama fan did it. but i'm not condemning all Bama fans or saying Auburn fans are any better. i'm saying they both have their share of idiots and disrespectful buffoons who resort to pathetic crap like this because of football.

Yes, this is correct, but should I run here with everything the crazy auburn fans do and drag all the dirty laundry through the mud? No, I don't do that, because what is the point?

I could come on and explain Operation Red Dog and things like that? What would be most auburn fans' reactions if I started doing that? Probably exactly what I do.

February 16, 2011  06:55 PM ET

Whats the big deal...it took them 130 years to do this?

we had an argument about auburn's record next year where people were sharing their opinion and you repeatedly said we were crazy for just sharing a positive opinion about our team. even if we are overly optimistic, calling us crazy once or twice is probably enough.

and it was you who started ranting on about auburn during the Cyrus stuff because Auburn fans were leaving messages on his facebook page. at the time you claimed not to be sharing your opinion but the facts. interestingly enough, Cyrus cited the fact that he had over 3500 facebook messages from Alabama fans, more than from Auburn fans, as one of the reasons for choosing Bama. we all spin facts and take a positive view of our teams but you take defending your team to a whole new level.

i would not react the way you do. i'd probably laugh because it would prove you're one of the fanatics that forgets were just talking about football.

it's fun to argue though.

So I can laugh and think you're a fanatic because you came and posted this? Lol.

I'm just trying to put it into context so everyone doesn't think that auburn is a bunch of whos in whoville standing around singing and holding hands while the grinches (Alabama) is coming down and burning all their trees.

Or something more current, we're not the humans that are cutting down the Avatar peoples' big tree thing.

It was me. I killed those WDE trees. In 2001???, I pooped myself after being TPed to a tree in Toomer's Corner after Auburn-LSU game. I was in Auburn because of an away game for UF rugby. We lost to those dirty Auburn limo driving cheaters, we did beat Auburn a year later 77-5.

Confession is good for the soul, BS&B.

Of course, a revenge-fueled 77-5 asswhooping is nice, too.
