I came across this list of the Top 100 Rivalries. I think it was flawed in a lot of ways such as including Roger Clemens v. Mike Piazza, Jim Tressel v. the SEC, Detroit Pistons v. Chicago Bulls from only 1988-91, etc.

Here are the college football rivalries listed and how they fared against the rest of the Top 100. I'd like to hear what every one thinks - any missing? Are they in the right order? Any that don't belong?

#96 - UNC and Virginia
#94 - Washington and Washington State
#86 - LSU and Arkansas
#83 - Oregon and Oregon State
#80 - Clemson and USCe
#79 - Pitt and West Virginia
#61 - Wisconsin and Minnesota
#55 - Georgia and Florida
#42 - Grambling and Southern
#33 - USC and UCLA
#32 - Harvard and Yale
#25 - Miami and FSU
#23 - USC and Notre Dame
#21 - Stanford and Cal
#16 - Oklahoma and Nebraska
#15 - Texas and Texas A&M
#11 - Army and Navy
#6 - Alabama and Auburn
#1 - tOSU and Michigan

I'm not sure where it would rank but I'm surprised Georgia and Auburn isn't included. 114 meetings with a record separated by only 2 games and 38 points.

Why did you select just these to post? What are 2-5 and 7-10? Where is the RRSO?

Who created this and what is the link?

So many questions...

The Top 100 included other sports and even individual rivalries. I thought I'd keep it to college football.

Then I call bogus....if it lists TU/TAMU ahead of RRSO, and then doesn't even list the RRSO, this guy(s) do not know what (t)he(y) are talking about.

that's a typo on my behalf. i was reading the T&R today. it is Texas and OU at #15 and not Texas and A&M...which leads to the question, should Texas and A&M be ahead of some of these rivalries like UNC and Virginia?

That makes a lot more sense.

I would put the Texas/TA&M ahead of the UNC and Va rivalry!

i think there's at least 4 on this list that aren't as big.

I don't know...I think of rivalries as fans and teams that truly do NOT like one another. Like they wouldn't go out to eat together. A lot of teams and people mentioned here are friends.
Hard to make the rivalry believable, to me.

I never knew Alabama and Auburn were rivalries until that Alabama fan poisoned the oak trees at Auburn. I can see when rivalry schools play pranks on one another but when they start destroying public property and killing innocent life forms, come on people it is a sporting event, entertainment, not a declaration of fan superiority.

Ha ha ,, too cute. "Friends" !?? No such word exists come kickoff,, i dont care who ya are!
Hey what about all the other in state rivals ! Like Purdue/Notre Dame is one of the oldest in the country.
Ok/Ok st, is a great one,,,Mich/Mich st ,, Iowa/Iowa st,, Colorado/Colorado st,, UNO should take on the Huskers every year,,, Ya never know, U of Omaha has that fight'in spirit in em !

Big Red starts every season with big time underdogs anyway.

I don't necessarily agree with you but there's definitely more hatred in certain rivalries. Doesn't make them better or worse though.

And some of the rivalries on this list are better known nationally then others. Could you list some of the more friendly ones? Like, Washington and Washington State. I have no idea how amiable they may or may not be.

I was talking in general about the whole list, not just the college teams. That's different. I was referring to some of the individuals on here.
Like Peyton and Tom. They are friends, for lack of better word, off the field. And I guess I think of them only because it's not them who play one another, in a sense. I don't know.

Like Magic and Larry Bird. They became friends at the end of their careers and battled each other on the court for years. Great rivalry.

Ah. I thought the list was a little inconsistent through out. A lot of it I wouldn't consider rivalries.

You know I was in TJ back in the early 90's and I had a great rivalry...which I think would have made it in the top 100!

Anyone who ranks the Texas-College Station sheep molester game ahead of the RRSO has not been to Austin in the past 50 freakin' years.

that was a typo on my behalf. it should have been the RRSO at #15 and the a&m game not ranked.

Rankings are fun.
Aren't they?
