I think it is getting there, but as you yourself noted, this might be just due to the fact that Boxing is down now.
Also, let's take it also into account that 129 is stacked.
I hardly believe, for example, that 127 or 130 will draw this type of crowd while 128 and (probably) 134 will be equal or even more than this one.

staying true to the fans
well, last time we heard Dana saying he was listening to the fans, he gave us Tito & Chuck III...

Edgar-Maynard II.
well, that's different. Any fight who is that close, a rematch IMO is ok.
But when he actually announces that the fight is what "the people wanted", it invariably isn't.
QUOTE(#3):

You mean Tito and Shamrock III ?
LOL nah. I was thinking of the time he announced last season's TUF

Oh, that!
QUOTE(#8):
Oh, that!
I am SURE this is exactly the match-up you wanted from Dana... from all UFC roaster, Tito & Chuck III was the first match-up made in heaven you would ask....
see? he listened to you!
QUOTE(#3):

Your always going to have those types of fights regardless... My point is that Dana stay true by making fights like MMA version of Manny and Mayweather. Boxing fans are getting cheated because that fight has not and will not ever happen.

you mean like he made Randy & Fedor? oh wait....
QUOTE(#11):

Your just trying to open up a whole new 100+ comment debate..... I mean in general also the present day like GSP vs Silva type match up. I personally dont care too much for the match up but there are a lot of people who would watch the fight. Do you think Fedor vs Randy would do the same numbers as GSP vs Silva?? Just a thought
QUOTE(#6):

I think that fight happen for the third time because Shamrock kept crying to the media that Tito didnt really win becasue he was still in it and the ref stopped it way too early. Tito got tired of him running his mouth and agreed to fight for the 3rd time free on tv to shut him up.

At that time? Obviously no, but you can't compare how many fans followed then and now.
But do you want to even argue what fight would be more expected from the hardcore fans? I don't think there's any debate on that.
And I didn't bait you on anything. I just stated a fact.
He only puts the fights HE wants with no input from fans. Just because "he says" it is what the fans want it doesn't mean he gives a crap about it.
he cares what makes him money. and what is only within the interest of UFC... which is fine, I don't have a problem with it.
but don't come here and tell me he is this saint you want to paint him. he is not.

Okay this has nothing to do with being a saint; I am talking about the sport. And yes GSP vs Silva is the fight that the fans want to see so to answer your question yes Dana is giving what the fans want. Obviously it???s going to make money because the fans want to watch it so that is a given. So technically it???s like hitting two birds with one stone, put together a mega fight for the fans while getting paid. Why do you think boxing is doing everything in their powers to make the Mayweather and Manny fight happen, investors have already put in 50 million guaranteed purse money. If it wasn???t for Mayweather coming up with million excuses boxing would have broken records making it tough for MMA to compete.
I am also talking about the sport.
And I think it is ridiculous that you jump on me when I give true examples of fights that everyone also wanted to see and Dana himself made it impossible.
Obviously he makes some fights people want to see. But to say that is all he does you are not fooling anyone.
Dana makes fights. If it is the one people wants to see, then good. if it is not, he just says it is. And if it is a fight everyone wants to see but he doesn't, he could care less about what MMA fans wish or not. You simply won't see that fight happen.

The problem with cross promotion it allows the fighters to pick and choose who they want to fight and when. I think fighters should be given the fight not pick who they want to fight. This is the main reason why boxing is just about dead. The ufc lets one fighter do it then they all want to do it and more fighters will start picking their own road in which is not a good thing.
This is BS and you know it.
Cross promotion can work n the top level (executives) agreeing who will fight whom and where.
Fighters call out others all the time, no matter what promotion they are in.
You are getting off the tangent here.
Now, if the fighter you are talking about is the champ of a promotion against the top of another promotion? You bet your arse he should talk. And the promotion should not hide and scream. They should put up.
UFC thinks they got the best HW? Then why not allow them to prove themselves? If anything, this would be HUGE to the sport!
Make it once a year, a champ of every major promotion meet up and see who can have bragging rights.
I disagree it would hurt the sport at any level.
If anything, it would bring HUGE masses to those events.

So basically you want MMA to follow boxing and have fighters hand pick their own fights and dodge other fighters because thats what happens when you cross promote. I don't think it should be the fighters choice with who they fight in their own weight class, just like in other sports when the team doesn't know what their schedule is until its out. Cross promotion is not a good idea, it kills the sport and spoils the fighters. Look at Mayweathers career.

I think you are sorely mistaken.
I don't think MMA will ever become like Boxing.
And I don't think cross promoting would spoil the sport. Quite the opposite.
I would have LOVED to see Cain & Overeem or Rua against Gegard Mousasi or Gilbert Melendez & Frankie Edgar.
How many times you hear "this guy is great but he cleaned his division within his promotion"? This would give a new series of people for them to fight.
You must be really sold on UFC stand alone to not see how many huge fights does not happen only because UFC does not cross promote.
Look at Dream, Belator or SF and you can see how it helps.
It makes me thing you are an UFC fan, not an MMA fan.
