NCAAB  > General NCAAB  > NC Heels!!! (-Davis,Drew,Graves,Wear twins) vs Dook BlueDevils(-Kyrie irving)
March 8, 2011, 02:24 AM
Hello everyone, especially us very satisfied Tarheel Fans !!!! Ive been reading Fannation message boards for quite awhile now, so as a very dedicated fan of the Heels for 30sum years now I decided t o kill some very desperate excuses for our demise of the Dookies as the best in the land,no less than the best in the ACC. Rumor has it, no matter how weak it may sound, that the outcomes of the Duke vs UNC 2010-11 series would have been Duke blowouts had K Irving played in both games. First of all I thought that Duke guards had pretty good outings albeit NSmith stayed on the line a little to much. But u have to expect that from Dukes refs. Still their guards kept the Dookies n striking distance. Second, and most importantly just think if the Heels had not had to struggle with the loss/transfers of 4 very quality players in their rotation ie Drew,Graves,Wear twins. Put the loss of E Davis to the NBA along with the loss of Bullock to injury. Honestly theres no way u could even fathom comparing those 2 situations. Carolina would probably be undefeated seriously. So before that lame excuse gets out of hand put all the ifs together Im sure common sense will prevail. UNC BEST IN THE LAND!!! GO HEELS !!!

I hope common sense will prevail, because you need practice.

You say you have read FN for a while, so where exactly did you see Duke fans make excuses? Who said Duke would have blown UNC out both games with Irving.

And further more, All of those players you mentioned transfering or leaving early would not have been able to play as well as the current players you have. A few of them would never see minutes and I'm sure there are scholarship issues there too.

UNC < Top 5 But looking up. Good luck

Just some of the typical excuses ive heard from Diookie fans in my area. I think I was tryin to start my own thread. Thank U. I think u may need sum practice, the only player whom Carolina would probably not had on their team thats contributing now is J Knox. Believe me thats no knock on my man J Knox,he seems to scare the Hell out of the Duke big men. But E Davis certainly would have been one of the top big men in the ACC alongside Henson/Zeller. Graves was a valuable starter and would have surely upped their 3pt fg pct, Drew, although shaky at times would have provided a real backup PG and the Wear twins would have given the frontline some much needed depth. So where r the scholarship issues at ? I think u really need the practice. Just Sayin. Oh yeah u have the perfect username for a DOOKIE>>>>>SEE YA IN APRIL !!!!!

If you think Zeller and Henson would get significant playing time with Davis there you are high. If you think The Wear twins would have got significant PT with Henson, Zeller and Davis there, you are drunk out of your mind.

Drew was a cancer and that is very clear now.

About the schollies, with your regular rotation and the 5 players you mentioned, that would be 14 players on a 12 schalorship allowance. And that includes ZERO walk-ons. You got a 15 man depth chart and 14 of them are going to give you contributions?

Like I said, you need practice.

i give it to u u r a very opionated person. Looks like u keep up pretty well with our team . NOw back to the mathematics. Our rosters 8 deep right now. Lets say the Heels never get Knox because the Wear twins never departed, Graves avoids dismissal and Drew isnt brainwashed by his parents and remains a Heel. We would have 12 scholarship players then .Hell leave E Davis out of the mix. Isnt that the team Ole Roy had stocked for this season? Now check up on dat. Im just sayin and I know uve heard it that the outcome would ve been a lot different had Kyrie played. At least that would b the only realistic excuse u could justify in any way being that Irving does seem to have the much needed athleticism that Duke teams seem to never have. Im just stating the opinion that Irvings production could not equal that of 4 players in your rotation. Now go and put that together. In the meantime keep that username it shows uve got some kind of pride in ur DOOKIES

Here's what I will say. The style of play would have been a lot different had Irving not been injured. Irving is on a completely higher level than any of the 4 players your boys are without, and you cannot deny that. Graves was the only impact player out of the ones you mentioned, his outside shooting would have helped UNC for sure. So it's pretty ignorant to believe the loss of Irving was not more significant than the loss of the Wears, Drew, Davis and even Graves. Either way, you play the game with the players you have.

Hope to see a rematch come Sunday.

Okay. Another opinion from another Heels fan. Drew II can go suck somewhere else. His "Ex NBA" father whispering in his ear did not lead him no where but down the wrong road. UNC is actually better off with Marshall at the point.

The Wear twins, I wish them well but honestly, what were they thinking when they committed to UNC? Did they not know that Carolina was on the other side of the Nation?

One thing is for certain, it is no longer an automatic ACC Championship for Duke like every media mogul in the nation once thought earlier in the season.

But after all the transfers and injuries, the Heels are actually playing better ball now than they were with those guys on the team.

You are right. Most cases, losing players early to the draft or trnasfers would set a team back. In UNC's case, they gained from their losses. Marshall would have been sharring more minutes with Drew, a minus for the team. And as much as Davis' injury may have hurt UNC, him not playing allowed Henson to develope more and prepare him for this year. The Wears? They have talent, I think Travis showed mor than David if I'm remembering correctly, but they were not the make or break players that Henson and Zeller have become. And another one of their strongpoints was their midrange, Barnse more than makes up for that.

All in all, UNC is looking pretty damn good (gag) with the team they put on the court. Drew was a cancer to the entire team and obviously not a team player.

Awesome comeback today against Miami, they played absolutely horrible but were able to overcome adversity and pull one out. Sign of a strong group there. Hope to see your boys Sunday. Good Luck!

WHATS UP COOL HAND ? THIS IS WHAT WE ASKED FOR !!!! DUKE/UNC PRT.3 IE "THE RUBBER MATCH". AS MUCH AS IT PAINS ME TO SAY IT BUT WE CANNOT PULL OUR REPEATED SLOW STARTS AGAINST A DUKE TEAM. WE WOULD B BLOWN OUT OF THE BUILDING. HOPEFULLY, WE HAVE SHOOK THE COBWEBS OUT AND R READY TO CLAIM THE ACC AS OURS FOR 2010-11!!! bARNES, WOW, HES GONNA B SPECIAL IF HE STAYS ONE MORE YEAR AND CONTINUES TO DEVELOP. I THINK HE WOULD EASILY TOP 50 !!!

Cool Hand u really kicked our a-s 2day. i wasreally dissappointed in our effort(s) today. I guess that Devil defense had a lot to do with that. Coach K aka Rat really gets his team ready mentally in these situations> Despite their lack of atheleticism, they manage to kick a teams a-s like ours when it comes to tournament time. Mayb we can have a nother battle in the final 4 ?

Tough path for both teams. I don't see Duke making it the the Final Four unless they continue to play like they did this past weekend. That's a hard level of play to continue when you only go 8 deep. But we'll see.

Good luck to your Heels in their bracket, tough draw. Almost like the committee was making it a point to keep Duke and UNC out of the FF. haha.
