I think if you tried it for the top 2-3 at each weight in each promotion (granted who is #2 or 3 might be a bit selective since its not as clear cut as the champs) maybe it would be different with a larger sample size? for example #2-4 in ufc at ww would be Fitch, Shields, Penn (no order) all american. At LHW I'd say Jones, Evans are 2-3 and both americans. I didnt pick those 2 because it inflated the US numbers, those were the first 2 that popped in my head with a clear cut #2 and 3 for each weight class.
But I think Brazilians are more exciting to watch imo. There isn???t a current U.S champ that has been dominated like the Brazils champ Silva and Aldo. Silva is the michael Jordan of MMA while Aldo is headed that way.
Great break down Jim. I never took the time to figure out what countries are leading in title wise.
You mistook my comments, Jim. I didn't mean right now but overall.
While there are more americans in say the top 5 of each weight class when you look at the elite fighters I think brazilians are more dominant. And I agree with uno that brazilians are more entertaining. That's probably because they aren't as good of wrestlers so don't grind out boring decision wins.
QUOTE(#9):
I think Nick Diaz is exciting. I think Cain is exciting. Jones is exciting. Penn is exciting. Guys like Edgar are not IMO. But there are many who are.
Isn't Cain Mexican?
Stil, the only americans I would count are Cain, Randleman, Randy (iffy), Hughes, Cruz, Melendez.
BJ is Hawaiian, I don't count it as American.
On Brazil you have all you named, plus Wandi, Nog's, most Gracie family, etc. This is not even close!

uhh....?? Hawaii is one of the states. BJ is an American.
QUOTE(#13):
Haha, I just spat my water out. Hawaii is a part of the United States.
lol
Life is different. Language is different, culture is different.
Just because you get an American passport doesn't mean American in all senses.
Don't weasel your way into adding BJ.

You don't need a passport to go to hawaii
QUOTE(#18):
But he's from the United States Roni. What does Hawaiian culture have to do with anything? People from the Deep South might as well be from another country as well. Its still the United States.
I know that???s right lol.... The south has their own language, culture and different life style. Ya'll come back now ya hear!
