"The Mile High Club" aka. Denver Broncos Fan Group  > Words from the Stands  > Will the NFL Go the Way of NHL and Baseball?

Hockey at the pro level or the NHL used to be more popular in the 70's and 80's before the strike of the early 90's? same for Professional baseball or MLB. They used to be America's past time, remember? Seems the NFL is destined to repeat the mistakes of those once popular and healthy leauges. Why is it that "Human Greed" is so hard to resist and impossible to conquer in the world of Sports?

Baseball is still America's past-time... which denotes the fact that it is the first truly American sport. Sorry, but it frustrates me to hear people assume that b/c it's popularity has slipped that it should lose that title.

As for the comment, with the NBA looking at a lockout as well baseball may have some bright days ahead. Personally, the combination of the worst Broncos season of my lifetime, the lockout, and the fact that Madden sucks has kind of worn football out for me. It would take a LONG lockout to lose the fan base that football has, but the fact that the owners and players are greedy enough to toy with that is just sad.
