Always sad to hear something like this.
It is so hard for an athlete in Thiago's position. I am not justifying it by any means, but he was already in a pink-slip derby with Vera and if he pulls out he might have a huge layoff and he may never get another UFC fight.
It is so stressful to have an injury and really want to compete. If you can take something that allows you to train 100% and put on a good performance in a fight that you might lose your job if you lose, you would think very long and hard about it.
Yep...
I gained more respect than lost by his admission.
I also think there should be a fail safe in these cases. People get hurt all the time. Some banned substances are used for healing.... shouldn't be hard to prove why you used it.

There are some failsafes. It's generally about disclosing any and all conditioins in advance and getting advice from the commission on treatment options.
Silva's admission will get him a reduced supension - and more importantly it will allow him to keep his namebrand and respect with fans.
Sports fans don't like the juicing, but they understand some of the motives. Even more than cheating, they HATE getting lied to. When arrogant jackasses like Bonds and Clemens keep denying denying even AFTER they are blatantly caught, they are simply insulting the public basically saying that the public are fools.

I agree.... but thinking back, I don't think he could have done it alone as he implies.
His camp knew of his injury. His coaches & trainers are as responsible as he is...
He took the blame and cleared them... but come on now.... if your coach doesn't know you are injured during training camp... they are not that good to begin with. And if they know and play dumb, they are as liable as he is!
At least he admitted his faults and didnt try to cover up. I hope they dont come down too hard on him.
This sucks. I really love watching Thiago Silva fight. His intensity is unmatched. I am pissed we won't be able to see him fight for a while.
