NCAAF  > General NCAAF  > Does anyone care about the Big XII?

Of course we do! And apparently so does Fox Sports. It was reported today that Fox Sports and the Big XII signed a 13 year television deal beginning in 2012.

It seems like a big boost and a solid vote of confidence for the Big XII, but will it be enough to keep the conference together or is the Big XII still facing an uncertain future?

The consensus around the message boards after losing Nebraska and Colorado has been that it would disband in 2014 or thereabouts, but all along I always thought many other things could happen to keep it together. This deal may be one of those things and getting back up to twelve member teams might be another.

ME!!! ME!!! ME!!!

Well, the total two contracts (FOX was 90m? and there is one with ABC) is about 130m....for 10 schools, if they divvy it up equally, is about 13m per school....guess it's better than it was...

I care, who will win the legends or the leaders?

Or are we talking about the conference with 10 teams?

I think getting back to 12 is crucial, and not just for the name. With OU, TX and a few others it's still a quality conference, but as the only major (counting the BE as a minor) without a CCG it will be tough to keep up.

The other vital unknown is how long will the other majors be satisfied to hold at 12? If they decide that 14 or 16 is a better number, the Big XII will feel like shark bait, especially if the others decide to expand before the Big XII does.

I don't see the Big XII(10) being viable in a few years.

TU trying the independant route.

OU and possibly Okie Lite going to SEC...

Others going wherever they can...

Nah, I can't say I care all that much about Texas and the 9 Dwarves.

I think Fox is covering its behind in case of a looming NFL lockout. College football might be the only game come the fall.

Not sure this wouldn't be a good thing-I like CFB more than the pros most of the time and having CFB on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday (and other oddball games sprinkled around other nights on some weeks) would be great.
