NBA  > General NBA  > An easier path to the finals for the Lakers than for the Spurs?
April 16, 2011, 02:46 PM
We've seen what has happened to these two teams for the last 15 to 20 games of the regular season. Both teams had losing streaks that made people think the Lakers could catch the Spurs for the top seed. Well, that didn't happen. Now the top seed are the Chicago Bulls, after the Spurs gave that away after going into that losing streak.
The Lakers could have been the top seed itself without all of sudden losing those games at the very end of the season. They even almost lost the very last game of the season too.
Now the playoffs are going to start tomorrow and I think that after the crazy regular season, the Lakers are in an easier position to make to the finals again. They shouldn't have a hard time with the Hornets, but at least it gives them a little breathing room before they have to tackle the big guns of the west. In the second round they will be playing either Dallas or Portland, and in the Western Conference finals they will be playing either OKC or San Antonio. This is not to say that every teams first round opponents is just a patsy and will lose right away. They made it to the playoffs, the have something in them.
The Spurs on the other hand are in a more difficult situation before they can make it to the finals. They have to get by Oklahoma City. What's your take?
