Okay - who replaces Franklin and yes, I respect him for what he HAS done for the team before this year but it's obvious he doesn't have it anymore (no that he had much of it to begin with for a closer).

Just imagine what their record could be, had Franklin not blown 4 saves this year!

I'm not sure what to do about Franklin. He's one of Tony's boys, so I doubt anything happens, but I think it is time to let Franklin pitch in some non-save situations and try to get some confidence back.

Let Boggs or Motte try to close, it can't be any worse than what we've seen so far.

I agree that it is time for a change at Closer. Franklin had a god season closing, one fair one and one that he burned out halfway through. I think that he needs to be moved down in the bullpen, and gie Mott or Boggs a chance to close. Problem is I really don't think that Tony sees it that way. Remember how long he held on to Izzy when he started declining.

According to Joe Strauss, there will be a meeting today between Mo, TLR and Dunc to discuss the closer situation and we should expect a change!

We shall see!

Stargate, you called it. Did you see Matthew Leach's Inbox? It said TLR brought up Batista, even though he wasn't being asked about Batista. I bet he goes with the 50 year old guy instead of one of the young arms.

Oh, crap! I had a feeling and I was praying I was wrong but knowing how TLR loves the "old guys with experience" - good and bad - I'm not surprised. I'm nauseated but not surprised! LOL

What a dolt and dunderhead and boob and idiot!

April 21, 2011  08:21 AM ET

Sounds like Franklin is a tad ticked that he got booed!

WHY do players always bring up what they have done in the past when they are sucking wind now????

May 2, 2011  08:47 AM ET

Franklin looked good yesterday BUT TLR should not have sent him back out for the 9th inning, IMO!

June 1, 2011  08:12 AM ET

Well, he looked AWESOME last night but I'm still not convinced!

Agreed, he needs to string together several good performances before my confidence will be restored. The way Salas is going, there is no need to even think about a change at closer. I know TLR though.....if Franklin is pitching well, it will only take one bad performance by Salas to think about a change.

And I just don't understand that way of thinking. HOW many bad outings has Franklin had this year????? He needs at least twice that many good outings before I'm comfortable with him again and since I've never been real comfy with him to begin with..................LOL

I know Stargate, but he's one of Tony's boys. Remember how many chances Izzy used to get when he was just terrible game after game? But he made Motte the closer but removed him after one blown save, and Motte's never had another chance.

Tony treats his "boys" differently from everyone else.

June 10, 2011  09:42 AM ET

I understand what you are saying but I don't feel that a manager should be that way. That's something I've always detested about LaRussa and you know it has to create some bad feelings.

June 10, 2011  02:37 PM ET

Don't get me wrong, SGB. I'm not saying I agree with it, I'm just saying I know how Tony is. His boys can do no wrong

June 11, 2011  09:43 AM ET

Well, all TLR needs is eyes to see how bad his "boys" are and just how wrong they are for the club!
