NBA  > General NBA  > Should Jerry Sloan Be Worried About His Job Security?
December 27, 2008, 05:39 PM
The Jazz at 18-13 have fallen once again back into 9th in the West and again out of the Playoff picture trailing the Dallas Mavericks by at least a half game or more. If the Playoff race ended today, the Jazz would miss the post season for the first time since 2005. In today's coaching climate, Jerry Sloan......the longest tenured coach in NBA history so far has been lucky that team owner Larry Miller has been patient with him through the struggles.

But that begs the question. Isn't time that sloan was held accountable for the team's failure to stay competitive this season? afterall the 18-13 record and a 9th place overall standing in the Conference is not exactly what you call getting it done. That's a far cry from where the Jazz started this season in such brilliant and shinning fashion, making it look easy with each win they piled up.

Speaking of accountability, Sloan ought to start worrying more about his job security if he wants to remain employed in today's worsening economy and one terrible coaching market which has seen more then 6 coaches canned already this season and more to come. Sloan is no exception. And he had better find a way to right the ship soon or he could be next on the firing line.

What do you think? should Sloan be fired if he fails to get the Jazz into 8th in the west or even make the playoffs at all? you decide.
