Very tough call. They both had solid regular seasons.
I think Dirk's been more of a playoff factor so far though despite him not being a rock on defense.
I agree with you though. If it comes down to breaking the tie, it's usually safer to go with the guy that plays more of 2-way game.

This season is over Heat all-stars wins it all...so this series is irrelevent

For the future I take Durant...

For now, I take Nowitzki and his veteran leadership.

Good picks ...but even today I pick Durant becouse he can give the team more options to win..

Nowitzki is playing MVP playoff hoops right now, but you want to talk year to year, considering the age factor you gotta take Durant for the future. OKC is going to be around for some time to come with a lot more success than Dallas has produced in their run with Dirk. Look at the success with Durant in such a short amount of time. Star vs star I like Durant more even if you hypothetically give them same age, not taking anything away from Dirk

Durant is my favorite player, but he seems somewhat afraid of the clutch shot situation. That 3 last night that got blocked by Marion was terrible. What's worse was I expected him to jack up a bad 3 instead of getting a decent shot before the play even started. Russell Westbrook has been getting criticized a lot this post-season (much of it justified), but I think Durant secretly (maybe silently is a better word) wants Westbrook to take over in the clutch. Since neither of them could, they lose.

Dirk FTW... Durant can't do well in the finals if he doesn't make it there.

dirk.... his playoff stats are incredible. and he will never be matched by another 7 footer as far as his shooting skills are concerned. MAVS WIN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YR!!!
